World Cup Betting Tips Today: Predictions & Best Bets for June 12th

The 2026 World Cup is now well and truly underway and it's time for the two other co-hosts to be called into action. First up, Canada take on Bosnia and Herzegovina while USA will hope to kickstart their campaign with three points against Paraguay.

Our World Cup tipster Nathan Joyes has shared his analysis on both games as well as provided his best World Cup tips.

So, how will the co-hosts get on? Let's find out.

Canada vs Bosnia and Herzegovina

The first ever World Cup match set to take place in Toronto sees Canada face Bosnia & Herzegovina at BMO Field. While the Canadians were given a free pass to be here due to hosting, the Bosnians famously beat Italy on penalties to book one of the last spots at the 2026 World Cup.

Canada have never won a World Cup match out of six attempts, but much more is expected of this squad this time round. In fact, they have yet to lose in 2026 and are enduring an eight-match unbeaten run.

Within those matches, Jesse Marsch's side have kept six clean sheets and are proving to be a tough nut to crack. However, the highest ranked nation they have faced was Uzbekistan (50th) and they have yet to be tested by anyone meaningful.

Their opponents - ranked 64th - are also unbeaten in their last eight matches, arguably navigating more difficult fixtures. They have also kept a clean sheet in six of their eight opening 45 minutes during this run.

Canada's captain, Alphonso Davies, is a doubt and a huge loss for the hosts. Their main talisman, Jonathan David, however, is raring to go - and currently one short of 40 goals for his country.

Bosnia's skipper, Edin Dzeko, may also miss out due to an ongoing shoulder injury. This will be a huge loss both on and off the pitch for the outsiders.

However, with two strong defences coming up against each other, it doesn't look as though the goals are going to flow in this one.

Under 2.5 goals has landed in seven of Canada's eight matches in 2026, while it has also landed in all four of Bosnia's matches this year. It could be a tight affair with so much at stake, and these two sides might just cancel each other out, or one goal might be enough to come out on top.

USA vs Paraguay

USA's long wait to kickstart their World Cup has finally come around - and they might be tough to beat in this opening match.

Are they bulletproof? Far from it. However, under Mauricio Pochettino, the US have shown a more ruthless edge in front of goal and as long as they avoid European nations further in the competition - other than Turkiye, of course - they will fancy their chances of beating anyone on home soil.

Friendlies haven't gone in their favour, with defeats against Belgium, Portugal and Germany, but those fixtures were intentional as they looked to test themselves against the best.

They put three past Senegal, albeit who weren't at their best, but also managed to find the back of the net against Germany - and not too many will this summer. Goals certainly won't be an issue.

With Paraguay arriving without their star player, Julio Enciso, goals will be tough for the South Americans. They have a strong defence, albeit one that is only the slower side, but without someone of Enciso's quality to drag them up the pitch, the pressure from the US could be telling.

To add to their worries, Paraguay have won just four of their last 20 matches outside of their nation. Gustavo Alfaro has yet to find a formula on their travels that will make them a threat.

Bumping into the co-hosts in round one is always a difficult fixture to navigate, and without their main goalscorer, Paraguay may have to turn to their other two matches to pick up points.

Betting Tips

Canada are favourites to beat Bosnia, but it makes more sense to back limited goals in Toronto, followed by a US win against Paraguay who find life tough on the road.
