World Cup Betting Tips Today: Predictions & Best Bets for June 16th

After landing three winners from four on day five - with only the Netherlands letting him down in the final minute - Nathan Joyes returns for day six action at the 2026 World Cup.

We welcome France, Norway and Argentina to the stage for the first time, to get a glimpse of three contenders looking to go deep in the tournament.

Our World Cup tipster has shared his analysis on all four matches as well as provided his best World Cup tips.

France vs Senegal

Second favourites to the win the World Cup, expectations will be high for France to reach another final. However, their initial route won't be easy with Senegal up first and Norway to follow.

They head into this clash having won four of their last five but more worryingly is their lack of clean sheets in any of those matches. Azerbaijan, Brazil, Colombia, Ivory Coast and Northern Ireland have all found the back of the net vs Didier Deschamps' side.

And there's no reason why Senegal can't be added to that list. Their warm up matches haven't exactly gone to plan, but the original AFCON champions proved how dangerous they can be on the transition during that tournament at the start of the year. African nations have started strong at the World Cup, with both Morocco and Ivory Coast getting on the board, and there's no reason why Senegal can't be the next to disrupt France's fragile looking defence.

Therefore, I'm sticking up BTTS Yes at 6/5 with BetMGM.

Iraq vs Norway

Iraq stunned Spain with a 1-1 draw but lightning doesn't strike twice their cross/strike that found the back of the net is extremely unlikely to be replicated against Norway. A 2-0 defeat vs Venezuela - a nation not at the World Cup - followed, and perhaps a more accurate reflection on the world no.57. Prior to that result, Iraq had only edged out Andorra 1-0.

Norway, ranked 26 places above their first opponents, may have only kept one clean sheet in their last five (Switzerland) but have consistently only conceded one against far stronger nations. Those were the Netherlands, Italy and Morocco. This is a nation that has high hopes of being this year's "dark horse" and if they are to achieve that status they will need to brush Iraq to one side with France and Senegal to follow.

The Europeans have too much class for Iraq and if they can deal with their height from crosses, they can win this without conceding.

My main tip is Norway to win to nil at 7/10 with BetMGM.

Argentina vs Algeria

The world champions begin their title defence against Algeria as they look to become only the third nation to win back-to-back World Cups. That is a debate for later down the line, but for now Lionel Scaloni's focus will be beating Algeria - and that looks to be a likely outcome.

Argentina have breezed through their World Cup warm up matches. And while wins over Iceland and Honduras to nil won't worry too many, those who watched their performances will have been impressed with their defence and fluidity at the other end of the pitch. What is noticeable when Argentina play is their professional performances but scorelines that don't get out of hand.

Argentina have won 13 of their last 15 matches. In 11 of those wins, they have won and the match has produced under 3.5 goals. Their loss and draw vs Ecuador and Colombia can be ruled out while big wins vs Puerto Rico and Zambia were, perhaps, expected.

Algeria will pose a bigger threat than those two, but they may not have the answers against one of the best defences in world football.

My main tip is to back the Argentina and under 3.5 goals at 10/11 with BetMGM.

Austria vs Jordan

Austria are odds-on favourites to beat debutants Jordan but it would be foolish to rule out Jordan. South Korea, Qatar and Australia have all scored or won points at the World Cup - and it's safe to say the Asians are outperforming expectations.

Now, there's clearly work to do for Jordan to win this. They lost 4-1 vs Switzerland and 2-0 against Colombia in their warm up games but having lost the Arab Cup final 3-2 against Morocco, as well as scoring and drawing against South Korea during qualifying, they are capable of getting on the scoresheet.

Austria may have edged out South Korea and Tunisia in their warm up matches, but their defence will be tested as Jordan will know this is their main shot at banking points. Austria are the favourites for a reason - and are being backed to win easily - but there's plenty of value for Jordan to get on the board.

Therefore, my main tip is Austria to win and BTTS Yes at 11/5 with BetMGM.
