Bournemouth and Southampton lock horns in what is described as a ‘South Coast Derby’ although it is not a derby that every fan looks for when the fixtures are announced..

Bournemouth have not had the best start to the 2024/25 Premier League season with just one win from their opening five matches.
They are currently on a two game losing streak. They started the season with two draws and one win, but have lost two on the spin to sit in 13th position with five points.

Saints Chasing First Premier League Win
Southampton have only managed to pick up one point since gaining promotion to the Premier League from the Championship.
It was always going to be a tough ask for the Saints to come into the Premier League and comepet right away. They have drawn one and lost four in the league this season.
Their only point was a 1-1 draw against fellow Premier League new boys Ipswich Town as they conceded a 90th minute equaliser to Sam Morsy.
The Saints were disappointed they could not hold on to gain three points, but it did end a run of four successive league defeats.
The Saints have injury concerns over William Smallbone andKamaldeen Sulemana, while Jack Stephens misses this game through suspension following his red card against Manchester United. Gavin Bazunu has been ruled out until February with a ruptured Achilles tendon.

Despite some claiming this game is a big derby, they have only met each other 18 times. Bournemouth have won four with Southampton being victorious 10 times.
The last time these two met in the league was back in 2023 when Bournemouth won 1-0 away at St Mary’s in the season the Saints were relegated to the Championship.
