James Woods

My love for horse racing started when I spent time with my grandad Bill, who absolutely loved talking through the form and watching the races on a Saturday with me. From there, my passion only grew stronger, and it continues to do so even now. You simply can’t beat a day at the races.

Get to Know James

I’ve been @WWWoodzy92 on X for a long time, but in the last four or five years I’ve really ramped up my efforts to push further into the horse racing space. Tipping on X has always been something I’ve enjoyed and found success with, and from that I finally took the plunge into the podcast world, starting The Final Flight Podcast.
The podcast, which began with just myself and a couple of others, has grown into a fantastic show that’s had plenty of support from within the sport, including jockeys and trainers. We’ve had guests such as Harry Skelton, Josh Guerriero, Daryl Jacob, and Darragh O’Keeffe, among many others. It’s been a brilliant experience and one I hope continues to grow.

From there, I decided to make the move into what you might call professional tipping and started up the James Woods Racing Service, which has been a massive success so far. My 2025 results stand in very solid three-figure profits, and I’m hopeful that upward curve will continue. My aim is to provide more than just tips to my members, I want to deliver a complete horse racing service.

I’m also super excited to be joining the betting.co.uk team to share my knowledge and views with you! I’m looking forward to providing regular, free-to-access content through here, and I hope you enjoy it and, most importantly make a tidy profit from the selections!

We asked

What's your biggest win?
It may not have been my biggest win, but one of my best days came back in December 2023, when I tipped a charity bet treble at 63/1 which included Shanagh Bob, Nurse Susan and White Rhino and they all won! It made for a fantastic day and raised some good money for charity. It was certainly one of my biggest and best days punting and tipping.
Favourite horse?
For me, it has to be Tiger Roll. He was simply in a league of his own when it came to those Grand Nationals, and being at the Festival when he tanked through those cross-country races was just something special to see and the fact he was also a Triumph Hurdle and National Hunt Chase winner make even more incredible. I’ll never forget being soaked through in the rain when he was beaten on his last run by Delta Work, absolute heartbreak but he’ll always be a superstar. I’ll never forget so many brilliant days watching him.
Favourite time of the racing year?
I think most people would say the Cheltenham Festival week, and I’d agree that nothing quite compares to the buzz of those four days. But aside from that, I really enjoy the Dublin Racing Festival, those two days, and the weeks that follow, just feel like a frenzy. I can’t wait for it again!
Underrated trainer?
I definitely feel Greenall and Guerriero can go under the radar quite often, and it’s been fantastic to watch them first-hand over the last couple of years as they’ve begun to step up in the quality of horses they train. Seeing them succeed at the top level with the likes of Iroko and Jagwar has been brilliant, yet they still achieve a lot of success throughout the season if you can spot their well-handicapped gems.
Underrated jockey?
I think Tristan Durrell, a conditional jockey for the Skeltons, is someone who could go under the radar this season, but I’m sure we’ll be seeing a lot more of him. He’s good value for his 3lb claim and has already put in some fantastic performances, especially his ride on She’s A Saint in the big handicap hurdle at Aintree. He’s started the season well and will only get better.
