If you joined me last time, then you'll already know that two of last week’s picks, Gavin Green and Nicolai Hojgaard both placed, at 40/1 and 28/1 respectfully, landing us returns from our two each way singles and an each way double. Both had huge chances heading into the final round, but it wasn't quite to be.
Nevertheless, last week was again very profitable and we finished 42pts up overall. Hopefully we can continue this strong run of form heading into the two events for this week. This time around, I’m going to take you through the PGA Tour and the LIV Golf circuit. As usual, I will be playing these as cross-tour singles and doubles.
Not only is Bet365 a great bookie for horse racing, it’s also fantastic when it comes to finding the best betting odds for golf selections too! For this week’s PGA Tour event we are off to Texas. I have four selections for you to take a look at all trading at big prices, but as usual I’ll start with my number one selection for the week.
Hideki is my strongest selection for this event. He won the 2021 Masters and has won on the PGA Tour eight times at various venues across the world. He is currently the World #21 and is very much an established player on Tour.
He looks like he is coming back into form just at the right time for his Masters tilt next week and there’s plenty of value here at 25/1. He was fifth in the Players this year, carded 67 and 68 and finishing strongly. I’m sure he has a big chance in this event coming into it in such good form.
Andrew Putnam is my second selection for the event. He’s a player I really like and whenever I watch him play, he always seems to hit a wonder shot. This may have drawn me in a little bit, but he has some strong credentials for this event.
He is already a winner on the PGA Tour and has the ability to go really low. In recent events he has shot two 62s and I really fancy his chances @ 55/1. He’s certain to put up a good effort in a bid to win his second PGA Tour event.
Straka is one of two Austrian’s I see doing well in this event. He is currently ranked World #32 and at 100/1 he is well overpriced for this event. He tied for fifth in the Honda this year and is a player that is full of consistent golf.
During the Honda he carded four rounds in the 60s and he played very well in the Sentry this year to finish 16 under for the tournament. I think he is almost guaranteed to pick up a place for us here.
Schwab is the second of the Austrian players I am putting up this week. He is a remarkably talented golfer who tends to play even better at courses he’s played well at in the past.
As he finished tied for eighth in this tournament last year and with repeat performances being something of a trend for him, the colossal 150/1 on offer has tempted me in, especially with the number of places available.
This week, the Orlando Championship is being played at a new venue. A course interestingly named The Crooked Cat, which is played over a distance of 7290 yards. I’m not entirely sure how the scores will fare, as there hasn’t been a Tour event held here. However, there has been plenty of qualifiers and it is by no means an easy track. However, I’ve managed to pick out three promising selections for you.
Carlos is turning into a very smart player indeed. He won the 2020 Houston Open and is already a winner here on the LIV Golf Tour. He had a strong finish in the Mayakoba, he definitely knows how to win worldwide and he should play well again here.
A bunch of the players at the head of the market have some serious questions to answer on form, but Carlos is absolutely flying at the minute. His price at 25/1 seems remarkably generous and his consistent finishes in the places put him firmly on my radar.
Abraham Ancer is flying the flag for the Mexican golf contingency and is one of my favourites on the LIV Golf tour. He has already won twice on the LIV circuit and he won on the PGA Tour in 2021, so he knows how to get the job done.
Abraham is a player full of consistency who is not afraid to attack the pins. If he gets that putter rocking, as a 16/1 shot, he has a great chance of winning again this week.
Chilean player, Mito Pereira is also rather interesting. He’s very exciting to watch and almost won a Bronze medal at the Olympics, just narrowly losing out in a seven man play off. Priced at 14/1 he is a bit on the short side, but he’s going the right way and takes my final spot for this week’s golf tips.
He was leading the PGA Championship last year after 54 holes and played well in the Schriner, the point being that he is very, very consistent. Mito is a player who should go well this week and is certain to be winning out here on tour soon enough.
