This week, we are treated to some fantastic golf events. The DP World Tour heads to Japan for the very first time, and it's set to be an absolute birdie fest! Last year, the event was limited to Japanese players due to COVID restrictions, but finally, the Tour heads to Japan to make its debut. Taking place at Ishioka Golf Club, last year's winner carded a score of 26 under, so you can expect a very low score to take the win this week.
Meanwhile, the LIV Golf circuit heads over to Australia to play at Adelaide Golf Club. Initially designed by the great Alister MacKenzie, who also designed the beautiful Augusta National for the Masters, parts of the course have since been redesigned by Greg Norman. The course in South Australia has hosted the Australian Open nine times, but this is its debut on the LIV Golf Tour. It's set to be an absolute belter, with Open Champion Cam Smith playing on home soil.
I'm going to play both singles and cross doubles again this week and see how we get on. Currently, we're at a seasonal profit of 414 points, and hopefully, I can add to that profit in this week's events. I'm also going to take a look at the LPGA & Champions Tour, but not as part of my official selections. If you're interested in receiving those selections too, join me in my free Discord group chat.
Now, before you go any further, don't forget to take a close look at my exclusive BetVictor sign-up offer, which is Bet £5 and Get £30 in Free Bets. But right now, let's get on to the selections.
I've latched onto Antoine Rozner over the past six months, and he's really becoming a world-class competitor who is ultra-consistent on Tour. Currently ranked world number 138, he's sure to break into the Top 100 soon after securing three wins on the DP World Tour. On top of that, he's also had three Top 10s this season, looking like he'll strike as a winner again soon. With scoring likely to be very low this week, I'm after a player with plenty of rounds in the low 60s, and Antoine is that guy.
He's fantastic with his wedges and has a very good record with his putter too. I expect a very bold bid from Antoine, who will also be playing in Korea the following week and has big aspirations this year. He's a player who definitely lets his game do the talking, and he's my number one selection for this week on the DP World Tour.
Up-and-coming German Tour pro Alexander Knappe has pledged to try and play all of the DP World Tour events this year, and he's surely going to break his maiden soon. A three-time Sunshine Tour winner, he went really close in the Thailand Classic this year, finishing third, and then followed it up by finishing sixth in the Hero Indian Open just a week later.
He's a very good player, and between 2010 and 2016, he passed through qualifying school each year, which is quite a feat in itself. As mentioned, I want a player who can shoot low 60s, and Alexander has been doing just that on a regular basis. I put him up when he finished 3rd in the Thailand Classic, and at odds of 100/1, you can expect a good run for your money.
The Germans have an abundance of talent at the moment, and another player who has been performing well on the DP World Tour is Marcel Schneider. A three-time winner on the Challenge Tour, he has settled into the DP World Tour very nicely indeed.
He closed out the Ras Al Khaimah with a 65 and then was excellent in Singapore, where he carded two 67s heading into the weekend and finished 3rd at the end of the tournament. He's a tremendous putter, and this seems to be what helps him stay consistent, so even when he isn't playing well, he seems to be in contention. His maiden win won't be far away. He truly is a rock solid player.
Ryo Hisatsune is my first pick of the home players, and he had my followers a little nervous in the final round of the Kenya Open this year, where he was chasing down the eventual winner Jorge Campillo, whom we were backing at 33/1. He generally plays very well in Japan and has a current world ranking of 172.
He mainly plays on the DP World Tour, but has also made both cuts on the PGA Tour, showing how well-established he is. He doesn't seem fazed by pressure, and out of the home players, I expect him to fare the best. He started off flying in the Ras Al Khaimah as well, and when he gets that putter rolling, it's hard to stop him. He should play really well in his home country this week.
Ryo Ishikawa is a fan favourite in Japan and became the youngest ever winner on the Japan Tour by winning at just 15. He has continued to improve as a player throughout his career. Although he hasn't won on the DP or World Tour yet, he has 16 international wins to his name and has always been touted as a future superstar.
In 2010, he carded a final round 58 in Japan, earning himself a rare entry into the Masters. As mentioned, I'm looking for players who can go low, and you'll find no better 100/1 shot than Ryo, that's for sure.
Patrick Reed is the Marmite player on Tour and his attitude often puts me off. However, as a player, he's fantastic and rises to any occasion. He's a nine-time winner on the PGA Tour and also won the Masters in 2018, so his ability should not be underestimated.
Currently ranked as the 44th best player in the world, he has a Top 10 finish in all four majors. It may be time to put my personal thoughts aside this week, as I think he has a great shout in this week's event, with five Top 5 finishes on the LIV circuit already! 16/1 is fair game.
Five-time Ryder Cup player Paul Casey has made a very good start to his LIV Golf career, and it looks like he should be going very close this week. A 19-time winner on Tour, he hails from the same town as me, but this is no sentimental bet—the course should suit him very well indeed.
A fantastic iron player, this Alister MacKenzie-designed track should suit him just right. I think he is the player that suits this course the best out of the whole field. 22/1 is great value.
Cameron Smith would be a very popular winner this week, back on home soil, and has started to return to the form of his Open win in 2020 in recent weeks. He played well at The Masters and is likely to be fully geared up for this event.
With five PGA Tour wins to his name, even though he is the favourite this week, I think he is decent enough for it at 12/1.
