Key Points
  • Time for some fun at Fairyhouse
  • My winning picks for a tasty Lucky 63
  • Full Grand National guide coming soon

Happy Easter racing fans

I hope you are all having a nice, relaxing weekend. It’s time for some Sunday winning picks and I have quite a strong NAP selection for you to take a look at. Personally, I’m playing these as a Lucky 63, but there’s definitely a couple in here that might be worth an EW pop too.

It’s nice to see some of the Cheltenham Festival stars re-emerging, but I definitely have a question mark about a few of them, with this meeting coming so soon after the big event. For that reason, I’m happy to take a few of them on, including Mighty Potter.

This week’s Fairyhouse meeting isn’t the only good jumps racing we have to look forward to either, as coming up next week is the Aintree Grand National. I can’t wait to bring you my full preview of the entire three days from Aintree and I will include a runner-by-runner guide to help you pick the winner of the Grand National on Saturday.

Ginger Joes' best bookie bonus pick

My best bet for an Easter bookie welcome is Ladbrokes, who have an awesome Bet £5 Get £20 in Free Bets offer up for grabs!

1.25 Classic Lord @ 9/2

In the opener, I’m taking a chance on the £200k purchase Classic Lord, who ran some really good races on the flat for Andrew Balding and has taken to hurdles pretty nicely too. He has finished fourth in both of his starts to date, but made a very eye catching impression last time out.

He made a lovely move late on to make his challenge, but was badly hampered on the run in which ended his chances, but he battled well and stayed on nicely to show a real good fighting spirit. It would be no surprise to see him take another step forward here and hopefully, Rachel Blackmore can help us get off to a winning start.

2.35 Ashroe Diamond @ 7/2 (NAP)

You won’t find many better-bred mares than Ashroe Diamond and I think she will be extremely hard to beat tomorrow. She skipped Cheltenham, but watching some of her race replays, I’m sure she would have been good enough to win last month if Willie Mullins had opted to run her.

Her form ties in very nicely with Marine Nationale and Facile Vega and she comes here fresh and fully geared up to go. This should be a competitive race and even though Magical Zoe, the Mares’ Novice Hurdle runner up is a threat, none are likely to be good enough to beat Ashroe Diamond.

3.10 Parmenian @ 7/2

It took three attempts for Parmenian to break his maiden, but he did it very stylishly in the end Last time out, he made a mess of a few jumps early on, but then really warmed to the task and this is something I really like to see from novices and he looked as though he learned a lot that day.

Deep Cave will be the main danger here, but the drop back in trip should help Parmenian out. I think the Donnelly’s have another really smart horse on their hands here.

Fancy a quick break from racing?

3.45 Arctic Bresil @ 13/2

Arctic Bresil made the top twenty for the most expensive National Hunt purchases this season, costing over £300k. He was very impressive in his Point-to-Point races and won very stylishly on his Hurdles debut too. Admittedly he was a little disappointing on his second start in the Tolworth, but there’s plenty of factors which could have contributed to that, so I'm willing to forgive him for that run.

Hunters Yarn will undoubtedly go off Favourite for this race, but after his run in the County Hurdle, I’ll happily take him on. That race looked to take a lot out of him and I think he’d have been better coming straight here. On the other hand, Arctic Bresil comes here fresh from a break and this is an angle I like after Cheltenham. I’m sure he is much better than he showed us in the Tolworth.

4.55 Flame Bearer @10/1

I’m going to take a chance that Flame Bearer can take down the big guns here, where he has the ideal trip and conditions. Mighty Potter is clearly a very, very good horse, but I'm sure he needs to be stepped up to 3 miles to be seen as fully effective.

Sir Gerhard and Appreciate it are very tricky horses to get right and are not for me off the back of their runs at the Cheltenham Festival, so for me, Flame Bearer ticks all the boxes for this race.

5.30 Brighterdaysahead @ 5/4

Although short enough in the betting, Brighterdaysahead, was very impressive on her Bumper debut and gets away without having to carry a penalty here. She cost £310k at the Derby sale and her reputation was matched by a very good performance first time out.

I’m convinced she’s got a lot more to show us and if we’ve had a few winners at this point, she’s definitely one you’ll want to have in your multiples.

And now it’s time for my video
