We may have Group Flat action happening at Chester this week, but I’m not interested in backing odds on shots, especially when there is much more value over the Jumps this week.

Following on from an 8/1 winner, a 7/2 winner and a 10/1 placer (beaten by just a length) yesterday, we are in a strong position. And I think I have found another absolute beauty for you at Huntingdon tomorrow.

Originally I had a list of four horses, but this one really stands out from the crowd, so I’m going all in and giving you my strongest selection of the day and I really do believe this is a good one!

2.15 I Hope Star @ 11/2

My winning pick for Thursday is I Hope Star who is running for Neil King. Jack Quinlan takes the ride on this lightly-raced, but improving, seven-year-old and I think conditions at Huntingdon are just right for him.

He won two nice Bumpers under Bryony Frost and then was off the track for almost eighteen months. After that, it gets really interesting. On his return to action at Kempton, he was literally chucked in at the deep end in a Novice Hurdle where Rare Edition was an impressive winner.

The plot thickens...

But entering him at Kempton was really just a tactical manoeuvre for I Hope Star to get a run under his belt and one that really blew away the cobwebs for this lad. He went on to place in all three of his next starts and pushed Teddy Blue all the way to the line when they met at Lingfield, which really does frank the form.

A big factor to mention here, is that all four starts since his return to the racetrack came on good to soft or soft ground, yet his best performance to date was when he won his second Bumper on good ground. This makes me think there is definitely more improvement to come from him this time, with the going back in his favour and he’s also 2lb lower this time. At 11/2, I think he’s an absolutely cracking bet for Thursday.
