I've got a quickfire episode for you today and with the Cheltenham Festival behind us, I’ve decided it's time to get back on the daily betting tips train. The racing hasn't been all that great since Cheltenham if I'm being honest, but I think I've found a decent shout in the 2.40 at Taunton.
The yard has just the one entry and will be travelling nearly two hours for just the one run, so let’s take a look.
Today’s star bookie is my evergreen favourite, William Hill. I’ve used this bookie for a number of years now and have always found they provide some great opportunities for racing fans. The current William Hill new sign up offer is Bet £10, get £30 in free bets and it’s definitely worth making use of.
So, my one and only selection for today is Mumbo Jumbo. He’s a seven year old gelding trained by Emma Lavelle. Emma is well known for allowing her horses time to mature, so he’s relatively lightly raced for his age.
His recent form figures may not seem to give you much confidence, but I’ve taken a really close look and I think he’s underrated and I’ll even go so far as to say he should be the Favourite in this race, despite being a Maiden.
Going back three runs, he ran a decent second to Kinondo Kwetu, on ground that didn’t suit at all. Next time out, although the ground was more to his liking, he was beaten into a creditable third place, coming in behind Solo, trained by Paul Nicholls and Git Maker.
Mumbo Jumbo’s usual jockey is Tom Bellamy, but today he’s been teamed up with Joe Anderson, a 7lb Claimer with two wins from his last three rides. The ground is right for him, the Taunton track with its short run in is ideal and he is a superb jumper. At a cracking price of 4/1, he is the one to beat here.
