Can we make it five winning weeks in a row?

Golf Fans! Thanks for joining me again here on betting.co.uk! It’s fair to say I am on a pretty big ongoing roll at the minute, having landed the winner for the past four weeks of Tour events. Also, I can’t say other than that a 66/1 Forecast for the PGA Championship certainly helped the cause!

For this year, the current profit stands at 572 pts, so for a £1 stake on each of my winning picks, you’d have £572 sitting pretty in your bookie accounts right now. Anyway, I am looking to further enhance our very profitable position this week and I have some really interesting selections for you to take a look too.

Today, I’m turning my attention to the ongoing PGA and DP World Tours and I’ll be playing both as Win Singles and EW Cross Doubles to try and keep the run going.

DP World Tour

Porsche European Open - Germany

Green Eagle Golf Club

7457yds

The DP World Tour, will be a cracking event and I have my strongest selections of the week playing here in the Porsche European Open at the Green Eagle Golf Club in Hamburg. The course extends to over 7457yds and this track has been labelled the most difficult course in the whole of Germany.

Scores that have won this in the past have not been very low and the scorecards in general can be quite a mixed bag, so expect a lot of birdies, but plenty of bogeys too. This is a serious test of golf and I cannot wait for this one to unfold.

#1 Alexander Bjork @ 22/1

My number one selection for this week’s Porsche European Open is Alexander Bjork from Sweden. He has been in superb form this year without winning, but has been playing the best golf of his life and looking like a second DP World Tour title could be just round the corner.

He does already have a past win to his name on the DP circuit, as he won the China Open in 2018, so he definitely knows how to get the job done and I think his time could be now. You will struggle to find a more consistent player on Tour this year and Alexander has only finished outside of the Top 30 once and he still finished on a score of seven under par.

His best result has come in the Ras Al Khaimah, where he finished runner up, just a single shot behind the winner Daniel Gavins, but he has continued to play some fantastic golf since and finished fourth in both the Italian Open and the Soudal Open, then followed up with a strong final round last week in the KLM Open in Belgium.

He really is becoming one of the standout players on the DP World Tour and the only thing he is missing is a recent win, but I think this very difficult track will suit him well. There really isn’t a weak part to his game and he has been very consistent, so if he continues to play the way that he has so far this year, he has to have a really good chance.

#2 Marcel Siem @ 70/1

I was so close to making Marcel Siem my number one selection this week and he has become a bit of a regular on my channel. I did think he’d be much shorter in the betting. In fact, 70/1 is a ludicrous price for how well he suits this course.

Across the week expect to see a big mixture of birdies and bogeys on this really tough track but that won’t faze Marcel one bit. He is in the form of his life this season and won the Indian Open in February to make it a total of five wins on the DP World Tour.

He is my only pick out of the home players, but it’s not just the fact that he is playing in Germany, what I particularly like about Marcel Siem is the fact that even in his best rounds, he often racks up a few bogeys, but seems completely unfazed by them and generally gets straight back on the birdie train.

He won’t mind dropping a few around this track, it’s nothing new to his style of play and he has been an absolute weapon with his chest putter. I have been really impressed with Marcel’s game this year, and the majority of his stats have all significantly improved.

He is longer off the tee with more accuracy, he is hitting more greens in regulation than he has ever done before and his putts per round is way lower than the current Tour average. I think he could well make a big impact here this week.

#3 Thorbjorn Olesen @ 20/1

Danish player, Thorbjorn Olesen, owns possibly one of the best swings on Tour and has been playing some superb golf this season. He is a seven-time DP World Tour winner and also won this year’s Thailand Classic with rounds of 67, 67, 64 and 66 to post a score of 24 under.

That was a seriously good display of golf and he has played well since then too. He finished in a tie for sixth in the Indian Open, then went on to finish third in the Soudal Open. He is a real class performer and in his last 32 rounds of golf on the DP World Tour, 27 of them have been in the 60s, which is a truly remarkable stat.

He is very good off the tee and his approach play is right up there with the best too. He is short enough in the betting at 20/1, but I can’t leave him out of this week's squad with the credentials he has.

#4 Rafa Cabrera-Bello @ 80/1

An absolute legend on the DP World Tour is four-time winner Rafa Cabrera-Bello and I really think he has a bit of a shout at this tough track. He hasn’t won on Tour since victory in the Spanish Open at the end of 2021, but he but has been playing some steady golf this year.

He will have no expectation coming into this contest, which could play a big part on a mentally challenging track. He hasn’t got any course form to go on here either, but again, I think that will help his mental game this week and he should be able to just stroll around and get down to business.

He needs to clean up a little bit off the tee, but his approach to play and putting has been as good as ever and if he is there or thereabouts on the final day, he could have a big part to play. He has been coming back to some decent form his year too, with a couple of Top 10 finishes and a fifth place in the Thailand Classic.

The last event he played was the Italian Open at the beginning of May, so he comes here after a few weeks off and should be ready to go. My only concern is the opening round. I would like Rafa to get off to at least a steady start this week, as consistency will keep him up on the leaderboard. It’s not a massive worry, but I think round one this week could well determine the shape of things to come.

#5 Julien Brun @ 50/1

Julien Brun is having a fine season on the DP World Tour and he is slowly starting to look like he could win one of these events, despite it being just his second season on Tour. He played in this event last year and finished in a tie for 34th, after carding an opening round of 69, then fading in the later rounds.

However, he seems to have learnt a lot from that experience and has been much more consistent in 2023. He had some strong early finishes this year, with a fifth in the Dubai Desert Classic and a seventh in the Kenyan Open, alongside a handful of Top 30 finishes too.

He is prone to chucking in a wobbly round, but he is clearly getting better the more experience he gets and on a tough track like this, I think he has the tools to do the job here. He has a good record in Germany on the Challenge Tour and I think he is starting to find his groove on the DP circuit also. 50/1 is plenty of value for Julien Brun.

Free bet offer number two coming up!

As promised, here is my second free bet offer. This one comes from Coral, who have the same Bet £5 and Get £20 in Free Bets as the Ladbrokes offer I showed you earlier. You really cannot go wrong with either!

PGA Tour

The Memorial Tournament - America

Muirfield Village Golf Club

6875yds

On the PGA Tour we have The Memorial Tournament at Muirfield, which is a fantastic golf course stretching over 6875yds. Here we will see Scottie Scheffler, Jon Rahm and Rory McIlroy present a star-studded line up, but I’m taking all three of them on.

#1 Patrick Cantlay @ 9/1

With the big guns back in action here this week at The Memorial, I think it’s important to have one of the top boys on Tour on our side and my selection going to be Mr Slow himself, Patrick Cantlay, who won this event in 2021 and finished third last year at this same course.

When picking my selections, I really try to find the players that will best suit the course and Cantlay’s soft draw should really be suited here. His short game is solid, which is always required in these PGA Tour events.

With the big three in the field this week, we need a player that can compete with them at their best and Patrick Cantlay is that guy for me. He can be a little tedious to watch but I really don’t care how long he takes this week, provided he brings his A game.

#2 Hideki Matsuyama @ 28/1

Another regular amongst my picks and also one of my favourite players on Tour over the years is Hideki Matsuyama. He is an absolute superstar and at 28/1 I’ve been tempted into backing him here yet again.

As well as his fifth-place finish in The Players, he went on to line up in the Top 30 for his next five events, without necessarily playing his best golf, but that’s the sign of a really good player.

In the Byron Nelson two starts back, Hideki finished on a score of 15 under par and I think that players that did well there could also do well here at Muirfield, with it presenting similar conditions.

This is going to be a class event and with 10 places available, Hideki Matsuyama has to be looked at. He has been one of those players this season that looks so close to hitting top form and he might just do it here.

#3 Sahith Theegala @ 40/1

A huge improver on Tour is the American player Sahith Theegala, who has improved so much since his 2021/22 season and now holds a place in the Top 30 in the world on official golf rankings. He didn’t figure too much last season, but he has definitely got better for the experience.

This year, he has had some impressive Top 10 finishes, which includes a ninth-place finish in this year's Masters at Augusta. That was on his very first start in a Major, which is beyond outstanding. To add to his resume, he has also finished in the Top 10 at the Farmers, the Heritage and the Genesis, all with some strong finishes.

He played in this event last year and struck the ball really well for all four rounds, which ended up leaving him in a tie for fifth. That course form will be very valuable indeed coming into this week. He is a maiden on Tour, but that is sure to end at some point and with him playing some brilliant golf this year, perhaps it might just end sooner than expected for this progressive player.
