Another horse racing term, the bumper is a flat race held at a National Hunt meeting.

A National Hunt meeting sees all the races take place over fences, while a flat meeting has no jumps whatsoever.

A bumper is a flat race on a National Hunt card. It is good to know whether you will have the obstacles of fences when you are placing your bets.
