Martingale is a betting system where the bettor doubles the stake placed on a fresh bet after each bet is unsuccessful.

The Martingale System is very popular in casino games like blackjack, roulette and baccarat.

It is a negative progression system to determine the size of your bets and is used in games where the chance of success is roughly one in two. Each time the bettor doubles the stake, they are aiming to recoup any losses with just one win.
