It's a big day of horse racing from Haydock Park and York this Saturday with Bronte Cup betting tips available for punters. That is the feature race on the Knavesmire, while on Merseyside expect to find Royal Ascot clues from two Group sprints. They are the Sandy Lane and Temple Stakes. Read all about them below!
A mile-and-three-quarters suits Mighty Blue well, so the dual purpose mare is our NAP of the day in the UK. Joseph O'Brien sends her across the Irish Sea to York for the Group 3 Bronte Cup (14:40) against her own sex where she tops ratings off the back of a Listed success over this distance.
Some of Mighty Blue's National Hunt form looks good too. She chased home Gauloise at Thurles in the autumn, and that one has since landed another Listed race at the Punchestown Festival. Mighty Blue was also a fine third at the Cheltenham Festival in the Grade 2 Dawn Run Mares' Novices' Hurdle.
Finishing in front of Skyace, who landed a Grade 1 next time out, reads very well indeed. As Mighty Blue also turned the tables on old rivals Princess Zoe and Barrington Court at Gowran Park, she's a mare that should be taken seriously. The 100/30 about her chances with Bet365 looks great value if building on her Listed win.
At Haydock, the feature race is the Group 2 Temple Stakes over the minimum distance of five furlongs (16:10). Fillies and mares dominate the market in an open race, but Liberty Beach has a good record first time out and gets the vote.
Trained by John Quinn, this four-year-old is a course winner over further with cut in the ground. These are all pluses as the forecast going on Merseyside is soft. The stable has a strong hand for this race, but our Haydock betting tips side with Liberty Beach because of her two thirds in Group 1 company last season.
Hitting the frame behind Battaash and Wooded in the King's Stand at Ascot and Prix de l'Abbaye at Longchamp gives her leading form claims. Stable companion Keep Busy may need the run, so the keen going Liberty Beach could maintain her record of winning first time out. She is a 2/1 chance with Betfair to do just that.
Our each-way choice in these Haydock betting tips, meanwhile, comes in the Group 3 Sandy Lane Stakes earlier in the day (15:35). Method has eye-catching form in another open contest, so could well hit the frame. This race is restricted to three-year-olds and Martyn Meade's Mehmas colt beat Fev Rover on debut at Doncaster last summer.
Given that the runner-up has since placed in the 1000 Guineas, he clearly defeated a useful filly. After following-up in Listed company at Newbury, Method was unlucky when his saddle slipped in the Group 1 Middle Park Stakes at Newmarket. Frankie Dettori just allowed him to come home in his own time.
Method also bumped into Winter Power, an impressive winner at York's Dante meeting recently, in the Group 3 Cornwallis Stakes at Ascot. He handled a softer surface there just fine, grabbing second in the final strides. That suggests stepping back up in trip will suit. Method is 8/1 with BetVictor and a good each-way bet in a very competitive race.
