Christmas is nearly upon us but we have two days of racing left. For Friday I have one selection for you coming from the two-day meeting at Ascot. It’s a pretty decent card and there are some interesting races.
My NAP selection comes in the opener and he looks to be very well-handicapped. Although he doesn’t have a vast amount of race experience, I think he has a very good chance here off his current mark. Hopefully he can get the job done for us.
For Saturday’s action we’ll be heading back to Ascot again, where the highlight of the day is the Grade 1 Long Walk Hurdle. I’ll be bringing you a preview of that race, plus my best bets for the rest of Saturday’s racing.
Sign up for a new account at William Hill, bet £10, and you’ll get £30 in free bets. The perfect way to take advantage of the upcoming racing action.
In my opinion, the result of this Handicap Hurdle will ultimately come down to tactics. Magic Seven is a very nice type for the Jonjo O’Neill team and looks ahead of his Handicap here, but I'm not convinced this race is the right choice for him.
Fifty Ball has a chance off his mark for the in-form Gary Moore team, and I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see him put on a big performance here. He has always shaped as if he has some decent ability and this mark won’t see him too far away. The main danger to my selection is Rebel Intentions, off bottom weight, who has a massive chance here after two good runs at Ascot and is another who won’t be far away.
However, I think Roger Pol, for the Jamie Snowden team, may just have the edge here and he is a very likeable horse indeed. He improved after his first-start, going on to win at Fakenham and looks very well handicapped considering he’s likely to show more. He may not have the big field experience that some of the others do, but I think Roger Pol will outclass his rivals here.
