As expected, following the epic event that was Glorious Goodwood, the Flat racing this week has, quite frankly, been a bit flat (pardon the pun there guys). That said, I have a hot prospect for Fridayโs meeting at Brighton, my one and only selection of the day in fact.
She runs in the final race on the Brighton card, which is sponsored by Star Sports and I think this tactical race will set up perfectly for her. Itโs a lineup of three-year-olds who still have scope for improvement and my pick definitely looks like she has got the hang of things.
But before I move on to the details, this weekend we have the Shergar Cup at Ascot, which splits opinion for the most part, but I do have my own thoughts on that one - make sure you come back tomorrow for those!
Courtesy of Star Sports, I have a lovely little deal for new customers. The offer is a 50% refund, up to ยฃ25, if your first bet loses. It's a great way to go for my Friday NAP bet.
My only selection for Friday runs in the seven furlong Star Sports Handicap - a race that looks like it could all come down to tactics. There are just five runners here, but thereโs sure to be plenty of pace which favours strong finishers. Forever Noah is an intriguing runner for the Roger Varian team. He is still a maiden after four starts to date, but he is slowly starting to get the hang of things so it would be no surprise to see him in the winners enclosure sooner or later. The problem is that he needs a longer trip to be seen at his best. Havana Mojito is also a danger here. He won over course and distance three starts back, and has run two good races in defeat since, meaning he is more than capable of winning off this mark.
However, my pick here is Monkey Miss, who is running for Daniel and Claire Kubler. This little mare won really well last time out at Chepstow, off a fast pace and was going away in the closing stages. She settled nicely near the back of the pack and despite finding a few traffic problems once she got a clear run she showed a wicked turn of foot , going on to win by three lengths. There is likely to be plenty of pace in this field too, which will suit her running style and despite a 7lb rise in the weights, I think she is good enough to overcome that. In fact, if she returns here in the same form as her latest outing, I expect her to be very tough to beat.
