Just one betting tip for Newbury on Thursday

In all honesty, Thursday's racing doesn’t look the most appealing, but I have managed to find a selection on the evening card at Newbury that could be worth a look. This horse is still a maiden, but has plenty of ability and conditions to suit, so we may finally see him to best effect.

I’ve already had a quick look at Friday’s racing and we have three Jumps meetings to look forward to. With plenty to pick from at Fontwell, Wexford and Down Royal, I’ve decided to put up a Lucky 15 for you. Be sure to come back tomorrow for all of the good stuff!

18:30 Newbury - The Hub Handicap 1m - Rogue Encore

My only betting tip for Thursday runs in the Hub Handicap at Newbury. I fully expect Youarenotforgiven to get a decent toe in this race under Hollie Doyle. He is a nice sort, but giving weight to a field of unexposed horses, so it won’t be easy for him to win this. I feel he is best watched on this occasion. On the other hand, Devoirs Choice is a big danger.. He won last time out at Redcar, and the drop back to a mile worked a treat for him. That said, he is the type that needs everything to go his way, and tactically-speaking, I’m not convinced he will get the right kind of race here.

Which leads me straight to a potential improver in the name of Rogue Encore, who is a son of Kodiac. He has put in some good performances without winning and in fairness, he hasn’t looked the most straightforward ride at times. However, he was gelded straight after his last run so he should settle better in his races now. He is well-handicapped off a mark of 78, and considering he is a miler, he has a handy turn of foot, which looks likely to be put to good use. I imagine he will be ridden fairly prominently, which won’t be a problem, and I think everything looks set for Rogue Encore to break his maiden here.
