There really isn’t too much to talk about on Wednesday’s racecards, but I did spot a two-mile Maiden Hurdle at Fakenham that caught my attention. Although there are only five runners, it’s an interesting field, with some nice horses to keep an eye on for the season ahead. That said, I do have a standout selection that certainly looks worth a punt to me.
Looking ahead, we have a brilliant week of racing coming up, including some Graded action at the weekend. Saturday’s betting opportunities include the Grade 2 Charlie Hall Chase at Wetherby, plus the Grade 1 Champion Chase over at Down Royal, where we will see Gerri Colombe making his seasonal debut. I will have selections for both of the races highlighted, and I think it’s fair to say that the Jumps season is officially under way.

My only betting tip for Wednesday runs in this Maiden Hurdle. But first, let me tell you about a very intriguing horse in the lineup, who is the Stuart Edmonds-trained Miami Magic. He is a lovely horse, who did well in PTPs before switching to Rules. He has had just the one run at Aintree so far, where he finished runner up to Bear Market. Both of those are decent prospects for the future, so keep an eye on Miami Magic here.
But this time around, I think Jubilant is the one to side with from a betting perspective. He is trained by James Owen, who is enjoying a fine time of things currently, and this is a horse who already has some very strong form in the book. At the time of writing we are expecting good ground, which will surely benefit a speedy type like Jubilant. In addition, with the Owen string seemingly ready to go first time out, I expect him to be hard to beat here. As a son of Doctor Dino, he should excel over Hurdles, and I fully expect him to get the job done here.
