We have another really nice card coming up on Day 2 of the Cheltenham Showcase meeting. Although the racing isn’t quite as competitive as Friday’s I have two betting tips for you, and I am expecting them both to win. The first is a horse I have been watching since his PTP career. He has made a smooth transition to Rules with a win on debut, followed by a sustained duel with a Willie Mullins horse last time out. That form leaves him open to plenty and I am excited to see him go around Cheltenham.
My NAP selection runs in the highlight race of the day, which is the Masterson Holdings Hurdle, and this is a horse that looks way ahead of his rivals. For me, this one is the banker of the entire weekend, and he certainly looks like a Graded horse in the making. Both of my Saturday picks look primed to go well and I fully expect to see them get the business done for us.
Nobody can say that Ladbrokes isn’t generous with their offers. If you sign up today and bet £5, you’ll get £20 in free bets. Definitely worth checking out!
The second race on Saturday is the three-mile Novices’ Hurdle, and Intense Approach is sure to prove popular. He has some good form coming into this race, which includes a runner-up effort behind Flying Fortune in the Persian War, but I have a niggling doubt that he could be vulnerable to a smart improver.
The horse I am siding with is Millforce. He came from the PTP scene with plenty of experience, and won for Gavin Cromwell on his Rules debut at Bellewstown, where he showed plenty of stamina. Next time out at Cork he finished just a neck behind the smart Willie Mullins horse Luckinthecity, and was strong all the way through the line. He never gave up, showed plenty of stamina and will have no issues with the Cheltenham hill. I am a big fan of Millforce, and I think there is plenty of improvement to come from him still.
The Masterson Holdings Hurdle has cut up considerably since final declarations, and although the likes of Dodger Long and Givemefive are entitled to line up, they both have a lot to find to beat the favourite here.
Bottler’secret is currently the even money favourite, but still looks like a value bet to me. His form behind Kargese at Punchestown is by far the best on offer in this field, and he will surely improve into Graded company soon. Cheltenham is very different to most racecourses, but Bottler’secret is very straightforward and jumps well, so we are sure to see him give it his best shot. His credentials far outshine those of his rivals and I don’t see any of them even getting close.
