Welcome back everyone. I hope you are doing well and enjoying the fantastic Jumps racing this week. I’ve got two hot betting tips for Friday and then at the weekend we are spoiled for choice, with four Jumps meetings coming from Stratford, Newton Abbot, Market Rasen and Limerick. That means I’ll most certainly have a whole bunch of selections you won't want to miss out on.
Why not try out this fantastic offer from Coral? If you bet £5, you will get a £20 in free bets to use for the racing, or pretty much anything else that takes your fancy!
I have two more Jumps selections for you for Friday’s racing, coming from Uttoxeter and Fakenham, both with excellent chances (as ever). As I am writing this article on Wednesday evening I can’t review the notable runners from Thursday’s action at the moment, but I will definitely will in my next episode, so stay tuned.
The horse that sets the clear standard here is Kim Bailey’s Espoir De Romay, who has been a Graded performer in the past, but seemed far from his best last season. He hasn’t ever shown much of a turn of foot either and considering he has to give weight all round on his first start after wind surgery, I think he is worth taking on.
So, lower down in the weights is a nice gelding called Ballydisco, who has won two of his three starts since stepping up to the three-mile trip. I particularly liked the way he travelled through his last race. He was held up for a while, then just gradually moved through the field to keep on really nicely after the last and finish really strongly.
He will run off a mark of 120, so it’s a fair bet that there is improvement still to come from him, especially as he won first time out for Hobbs in March. I would love to see him ridden quietly and then pick up the pace late on, because I’m sure there is no horse here with a quicker finish than Ballydisco.
This Handicap Chase here is really decent considering the small field and I have narrowed it down to two runners, but with a slight preference for one of them. Brief Time, who runs for Neil Mullholland, represents a really good chance in this sphere, but he has been hit quite hard by the Handicapper after two wins. He certainly paid the price last time out, when finishing a well-held third. Perhaps the weight is a touch too much, but he does drop down in Grade here.
But I think the better option is Arizona Cardinal, who is running for the Stuart Edmonds team. I think this one will be hard to beat, provided he is ready to go first time out. He is a really likeable type, who has won two of his five Chase starts, with his season-closing win at Uttoxeter being the most notable. Running off a much lower weight, Arizona Cardinal should have the finish to close the deal here.
