Two fantastic events on both Tours

We have another two fantastic golfing events happening this week. On the PGA Tour we have the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and any event at Pebble Beach is always worth watching.

Meanwhile, over on the DP World Tour, we have the Bahrain Championship at the Royal Golf Club and this is the first time they have hosted a major event since Paul Casey won back in 2011. The course has had plenty of work done and it looks like we are in for a real treat.

PGA Tour – The AT&T at Pebble Beach – 10 places with Coral

The PGA Tour heads to Pebble Beach for one of the signature events of the golfing calendar. Colloquially known as ‘nature’s golf course’, Pebble Beach runs over 6972 yards of glorious California coastline and it has a really deep history.

Some of the greats have won here and the best ever performance was in 2000, when Tiger won the US Open by 15 shots and was the only player under par. He is also the only player to have won at Pebble Beach twice in one season, as he also won the AT&T in the same year, coming from seven shots back. with just nine holes to play.

I don’t think anyone will play Pebble Beach as well as Tiger did but we have a fascinating field for this year’s tournament. I think Scottie Scheffler will have a really good week, although he is way too short to tip, but I think I have found some good value in my two selections this week - especially if you take advantage of the massive 10 places Coral has on offer for this event.

Wyndham Clark @ 60/1 EW

Wyndham Clark is my best bet for the AT&T this week and I think he is very much overpriced at 60/1. He owes us nothing, as he won the US Open last season and we were on at 80/1. The world number 10 has been criminally overlooked by the bookies this week and you can get as much as 90/1 for fewer places if you fancy it.

He has started this season in really good form and I see no reason why he won't enjoy the challenge of Pebble Beach. He hits a strong power fade, which is exactly the same shot Tiger used to win here twice in 2000. I will admit that when he isn’t on song, he can shoot some big numbers, which won’t cut it here.

However, on his best form, the US Open champion has a great chance of picking up another signature event this week. Frankly, I can’t find a player better suited to the course this week and Wyndham Clark will love it round here. I have no qualms about backing him this week at a truly scandalous price for his ability.

Jordan Spieth @ 16/1 EW

Jordan Spieth is likely to be a popular pick this week and I can see why too. He has a fantastic short game, which you absolutely need around here, and he has a lovely soft fade to his natural shot shape, which helps hugely too.

I think he is one of the more creative players in the field and if he turns up feeling good this week, then Jordan Spieth ticks a lot of boxes for this week’s event and could even find himself in the winner’s enclosure here at Pebble Beach.

DP World Tour – The Bahrain Championship – 7 places with Coral

The DP World Tour heads back to The Royal Golf Club in Bahrain for the first time in 16 years and it’s set to be an absolute belter. The course is a 7261 yards Par 72, designed by Colin Montgomerie and I am really looking forward to seeing how this course plays.

We have very little previous form to go on, with this being the first elite event to be held here in a very long time. But if we go all the way back to when Paul Casey won here, the top of the leaderboard consisted of seriously good ball strikers, so that’s exactly what I am going with this week.

Alex Fitzpatrick @ 28/1 EW

Alex Fitzpatrick really started to make a name for himself towards the back end of last season.  And he definitely proved himself worthy of playing at this level when he switched back to the Challenge Tour and won easily by five shots.

Since then he has improved consistently on the DP World Tour and is coming into this event off the back of four Top 20 finishes. I’m convinced it won’t be long until Alex Fitzpatrick notches up his first DP World Tour victory and this is a course that should suit his game nicely. I really fancy Alex Fitzpatrick here and he is a great each way bet at 28/1.
