A great card upcoming for Ascot on Friday, and I have two very hot betting tips for you. My first selection contests in the highly competitive Introductory Hurdle. He won on debut and I really liked the way he went about it. I believe he will be going on to much bigger things. For the Handicap Hurdle , which takes place a little later, I am siding with a very unexposed mare, who looks better-handicapped than the rest of the field. Both of my Friday picks look sure to go well, and I hope we can take a bit of profit from the bookies ahead of the weekend.
Courtesy of Ladbrokes, new members can collect a generous free bet deal. Bet £5, and you’ll get £20 in free bets. Perfect timing for an action-packed weekend of racing.
We have a really talented lineup in this Introductory Hurdle. Nicky Henderson runs Joyeuse, who won on debut last season, and looked like a mare full of talent. She comes from the same family as Champion Hurdle winner Epatante and it would be no surprise if she was able to serve it up to the geldings here. Wade Out is another classy contender, who is sure to continue improving this season. But at the end of the day, whatever he achieves over Hurdles will be a bonus, as he looks like a future Chaser to me.
However, I think the best of the bunch is Celtic Dino. He bolted up on debut at Wincanton and looked like a horse that had much more to give. He was much too keen at the start, which is typical for a youngster, and his jumping was pretty hit and miss over the first few Hurdles. However, by the end of the race he was fully switched on, and powered clear up the straight. I can easily see Celtic Dino running in the Betfair Hurdle come February, and as a son of Doctor Dino, I expect him to excel this season, starting with this race.
This very competitive Handicap Hurdle has really caught my attention. Gin Coco certainly has some appeal for starters. He finished close behind Washington at Chepstow on his latest start, and a repeat effort will see him right in the mix here too. Without doubt, he is the biggest threat to my selection.
I will be backing Nicky Henderson’s Break My Soul. She won two good races earlier this year, before losing by a nose to Our Champ on her seasonal debut here at Ascot. She has plenty of speed on her side, is still ahead of her handicap mark, and gets conditions to suit too. She is definitely open to more as the new season progresses, but meanwhile, I think she takes all the beating here.
