Moving on to Day 3 of the Glorious Goodwood meeting, I’ve got two really hot betting tips for you. The first is an each way punt in the highlight race of the day which is the Group 1 Nassau Stakes. This filly already has a Classic win on her resume, and I thought she would be half of her current price, so she looks well worth a go in the each way market.
However, my NAP bet of the day comes in the very next race, the Nursery Handicap for the newbies. The two-year-old I fancy here is a really flashy colt, who is progressing very fast, and I’m positive he will give another good account of himself here. He is bred to get better with experience and looks the standout runner in this field.
It has been a really good week of racing so far, with plenty more to come and for Friday's action, I’ll have three betting tips lined up, so make sure you pop back to check those out tomorrow.
Courtesy of Coral, new customers have the chance to grab an awesome free bet deal. If you
bet £5, then you’ll get £20 in free bets. With two big days to go guys, surely it’s worth more than a second glance!
My first betting tip for Day 3 runs in the highlight race of the day, the Group 1 Nassau Stakes for the fillies and mares. This looks all set to be a superb contest where the Ballydoyle-trained Opera Singer heads the market. But even though she’s likely to go well, she hasn’t managed to get her head in front this season, making her price tag way too short for my tastes. Emily Upjohn is the proven class act in the race, having won a few Grade 1s already, including the Coronation Stakes and the Champion Fillies’ and Mares’ Stakes. It must be said that a return to that sort of form would make her hard to beat.
But at an each way price,
Elamka, this year’s 1000 Guineas winner, is hugely overpriced and in my opinion, should be showing at a single figure price here. She won the 1000 Guineas in emphatic fashion, and despite being slowly away in the Coronation Stakes next time out, she stayed on well late in the race. She was eventually beaten by Porta Fortuna in the final furlong, but by just three lengths, which is huge form.
I’m happy to put a line through that effort, as she showed plenty of pace, but also produced some fantastic work late on. I think that proves she definitely has the stamina for this race, despite stepping up in trip, and making her well overpriced at double figures. I’m more than happy to back her each way for this contest, as I think she is being seriously overlooked here.
My NAP bet of the day runs in a race dedicated to two-year-olds, and there are plenty of nicely-profiled types in this field. Brighton Boy did well to break his maiden last time out at Chester, and has plenty of speed about him too. But the challenge for him here is that he is drawn on the outside in Stall 16, but when he won at Chester last time out, he was fortunate enough to be drawn on the rail (on a sharp left-handed track) so he’ll have more than enough to do, but shouldn’t be too far away either. Veydari is another interesting contender at a massive price. He is still a maiden after three starts, but looks like he will appreciate the step up in trip, so it would be no surprise to see him place here.
However, I’m siding with George Boughey’s El Burhan, who has shown consistent progress all season and stands out to me as the best horse in this race. He was bred by the Shadwell operation, who generously handed him over to Boughey this season, and El Burhan has not disappointed. He is a strong traveller, with plenty of speed, and it's likely we haven't seen the best of him yet. Although he was beaten on his six furlong debut over six furlongs, he won both of his starts over seven furlongs, despite looking green in both, and I think he’s ready to make it three on the bounce. El Burhan is a very smart horse, and I expect him to deliver a huge performance at Goodwood on Thursday.
