The Jumps season opener at Chepstow has finally arrived, and I cannot wait for the Saturday racing to get under way. To kick off the season I have three betting tips for you and all three look set to start off in good style. We begin with an each way selection in the Juvenile Handicap Hurdle, where I've found a well-handicapped horse who was on a steep upward curve last season, and has conditions to suit on his seasonal debut.
My NAP bet of the day comes in the Novices’ Chase. This is a horse that looks made for fences and he is sure to have been well-schooled. I’m pretty sure that this gelding will have Cheltenham Festival targets ahead of him, despite it only being October. My final selection comes in the Silver Trophy Handicap and I have found a very well-handicapped runner here. The race looks tailor made to suit him, and I’m expecting a big run on his first start of the season. I am feeling very confident about all three of my selections for Saturday, and I’m certain we are in for a really good day.
BetMGM is currently offering a very generous deal for new customers.

My first betting tip for Saturday runs in the Juvenile Handicap Hurdle, where we have a whole host of progressive sorts. Liari gives weight all round and was sent off as the second favourite for the Boodles Handicap at the Cheltenham Festival. He won his first three starts prior to that day, and despite looking like a genuine improver, giving weight away to this field won’t leave him with an easy task. Another of interest is Latin Verse for Anthony Charlton. He can be a little hit and miss, but his best form gives him a good chance here, and he is on a workable mark too.
However, the one that gets my vote is Yellow Star for Gary Moore. He has a very good speed figure and looks really well-handicapped here. He comes here fresh, travels strongly, and the ground won’t be any issue for him either, leaving him open to plenty of improvement too. I think he is one of the best handicapped horses in this race, and he ticks a lot of boxes for what is needed to win at Chepstow. He is definitely the one who will handle the track and conditions the best, and should make his presence felt in this field.
Next up, we move on to the Novices’ Chase. Even though there are only six runners, this should be a cracking renewal of the race. Springwell Bay is a very talented horse, and one of the main contenders for sure. I ‘m pretty sure he will take to Chasing, but he probably needs this run to put him spot on. Resplendent Grey was one of my horses to follow last season, and he progressed well, but I’m not convinced Chasing will suit him. Insurrection could go well on his Chase debut, but he will need to be fully geared up, and could easily find one too good.
That’s why I’m going with
Cuthbert Dibble
here. As a son of Kayf Tara he looks every inch a Chaser, and his Hurdles form gives him a big chance in this field.
He travels strongly, finishes out his races well, and the Twiston–Davies team are sure to have schooled him to the max. The yard has started this season very well and I expect a bold bid from Cuthbert Dibble. He is sure to do well here, and has a big chance of going on to better things over fences.
My final selection runs in a wide open renewal of the Silver Trophy. Crebilly was second in the Plate at Cheltenham, and gives weight all round here, which is a big task on seasonal debut. However, he is sure to have been well prepped for his return to action, and should still get competitive. Forever William is an interesting contender at the other end of the weights. He only carries 10st 10lbs, and has the best speed figure in the race. I imagine he will be held up for the most part and play his hand late to use that speed to best effect. At a huge price, he could easily outrun his odds here.
But I’m siding with Into The Park here, who runs for Phillip Hobbs. He is a very likeable sort and one who is sure to improve this season. He has a huge engine, and he looks very well-treated off a mark of just 125. He acts on all types of ground and can be ridden prominently or quietly at the back, so he has very strong credentials in this field. He is a strong finisher, which is necessary at Chepstow, and I see him at 10lbs ahead of his handicap mark here. I am expecting a big run from this improver, and he is well worth an each way punt.
