Today’s article is all about my best betting tip for today’s racing action. As well as providing you with my NAP bet, I will also break down in detail the reasons behind my selection and I’ll reveal where you can get the best price too!
If you haven’t already seen my articles, it will be well worth checking out some of my previous ones. I would specifically recommend you check out my antepost selection for the 2026 Cheltenham Festival, as that one is still relevant. As well as my NAP for today, I’ll have another betting tip for tomorrow’s action, and then Aintree Festival coverage next week. Make sure you check back in for those
Unibet has the joint best price of 9/2 for my NAP - Party Business, so I would recommend that you back him here! Looking through Saturday's racecards last night, there was one horse that stood out to me straight away and that was Party Business for Ian Williams. He may look short enough at 9/2 in a 14-runner Handicap, but if he turns up at his best he can prove there is plenty of value in that price. I think he has the potential to blow this calibre of opposition away, and hopefully he’ll do exactly that!
At his peak, Party Business was rated 141. That was after winning a Grade 3 Handicap at the 2022 Aintree Festival, producing a RPR (Racing Post Rating) of 138. Whilst he is not the force of old at the age of nine, he still retains plenty of ability.
He hasn’t had a win since, despite some creditable runs in defeat, but he has now dropped down to a mark of 119, so he looks very well handicapped judging on his old form. Less than 12 months ago (during April and May 2024) he was rated 132, and held his own in competitive Class 2 Handicaps at Cheltenham and Haydock, with RPRs of 131 and 126 respectively.
He was pulled up in his first two starts of this campaign, but he had excuses for both, as the first was on Heavy ground and the latter was over fences. He went back over Hurdles last time out, where he got back on track with a staying fifth over an inadequate trip. That run should have him spot on for today, and off a mark of 119, he is very dangerous…
His Hurdles form over the 3m trip on decent ground (Good to Soft, or better) has produced RPRs of 138, 137, 128, 120, 131, 128, 131 and 126. So, off a mark of 119 and returned to better conditions, I’m sure you can see why he is very interesting to me!
As recently as August last year, he ran third at Galway off a 1lb higher mark. The late rain that fell wouldn’t have helped his cause, turning the ground unsuitably soft, but I like the fact that they were prepared to send him over on an Irish raid. To me that suggests they think he still has plenty left in the tank.
As mentioned, last time out, he stayed on well over an inadequate trip of 2m 4f to finish fifth, producing a RPR of 117. With the way he stayed on strongly towards the finish, it just proved to me that he needs the 3m trip and given that he has it here, I believe he can run a massive race.
Another thing that caught my attention is that his usual cheekpieces were missing last time out… but they return today! So to recap on his first appearance this season, he was run on unsuitably Heavy ground. On his second start he ran over fences, which does not suit him. Then his third run was over an inadequate 2m 4f trip. Albeit he was back over Hurdles, but minus his usual headgear. For me, those three runs were simply intended to bring his mark down, and they have achieved their mission, as it has now fallen from 122 to 119.
Today Party Business goes over Hurdles again, but this time on better ground and back up to 3m. In addition, the usual cheekpieces are back on. They have his mark back down to 1lb below his Galway run, and as well as that mark looking very exploitable, the stars seem to be aligning in terms of bringing his ideal conditions.
Ian Williams is a shrewd trainer and I’m sure all of the unsuitable elements over the past three runs have been part of a long-term plan. I’m convinced they’ll have Party Business ready to strike now that he has conditions in his favour and the headgear goes back on.
Party Business is an Aintree Festival winner, he was competitive in Class 2 company less than 12 months ago, and he now finds himself in a Class 4 (0-120) Handicap. If you limit his form to runs over Hurdles in March, April and May only, his average RPR is 132, which has him looking extremely well handicapped off a mark of 119. I quite simply think he is a cut above the rest here and he can give them the weight and a beating today.
Below you can find all of the current offers from our bookmaker partners. Whilst it is satisfying to beat the bookies with your own money, it is even more satisfying to beat them with theirs. As we approach the Aintree Festival, they will all be bringing out their best offers to fight for your custom, so make sure you take advantage of that fact too.
I am currently producing 4 articles a week for betting.co.uk, largely focused around betting tips but also on other areas such as big race trends for example. However, whilst I may provide my best bet of the day here on certain days each way, the majority of my betting tips can only be found within my Discord server. Also whilst this is just one way communication, of me writing and you reading, my Discord community allows you to get involved in what is effectively a huge group chat of like minded individuals that all love their racing!
Yesterday we saw a 4.7pt profit in the Discord, which is a profit of £47.00 to £10 stakes with a 9/1 winner and places at 11/1 and 7/1! I hope to see you there!
