We have a brilliant day of competitive racing taking place at Warwick on Thursday. I have two selections which really stand out as solid bets, and I think they will both run big races.
There’s a good bunch lining up for the Mares’ Novices’ Chase, including the 2023 Mares’ Novice Hurdle winner, You Wear It Well. However, I’m seriously intrigued by a recent Lucy Wadham winner. This is a mare who is going from strength to strength, and despite going up in Grade, I think she will take a lot of beating here.
My second betting tip comes in the Handicap Hurdle where we have another interesting field. But there is one in particular that looks better than the rest and he remains way ahead of his Handicap mark too. I am expecting us to take some profit on Thursday to set us up for the Cheltenham December meeting this weekend.
Ladbrokes has the perfect offer for Thursday’s racing at Warwick.
Bet £5, and you’ll get £20 in free bets. You can use your free bets at Cheltenham, starting on Friday.
This race looks like an absolute cracker on paper. Cherie d’Am is a very intriguing runner for the Skelton team. Despite not managing to win too many races so far, she has some very strong form and must come under consideration. Of course, the 2023 Mares’ Novice Hurdle winner You Wear It Well sets a very high standard here for Jamie Snowden and is definitely the one to beat. However, my concern with her is that she isn’t the most versatile tactically speaking.
That’s why I’ve decided to go for Lucy Wadham’s
Telepathique. This is a mare who is on a rapid upward curve and she really impressed me with her win over two miles here at Warwick last month. Good jumping is a necessity to win here, and Telepathique absolutely flew over her fences last time out.
Meanwhile, the step up to 2m 4f will not bother her in the slightest, and could even bring out more improvement in her. I have no idea where her ceiling of ability might be right now, but considering she won with such ease last time, I expect her to make a bold bid from the front, and remain there until the finish.
The Handicap Hurdle looks like quite an open contest on paper, but there is definitely a standout selection here. Moon Over Mexico returns after a break of nearly a year, and if he returns in the same sort of form then he could still look nicely-handicapped. Bredon Hill did well to win last time out for the Twiston-Davies team, but as a four-year-old, he has a stiff task taking on the older horses here, but shouldn’t be too far away given a clear run.
That said, I think the one to be on here is Dan Skelton’s Mr Hope Street. He does run here under a penalty, but I don’t think that will be enough to stop him from winning this. He is a very good traveller, with plenty of stamina, and more than enough speed to go with it. The syndicate colours of Fehily and Cross have been absolutely flying this past two weeks, and if Mr Hope Street continues with the same level of improvement, then he has to be the one to beat. I expect him to be there, or thereabouts turning for home, from which point he will be extremely hard to pass.
