We are off to Stratford for Thursday’s racing, where there is a surprisingly competitive card. I’ve got three betting tips for you that are worth a second look, and I fully expect all three of these horses to go well in their respective races. We start off with my NAP selection in the two-mile Novices’ Hurdle. This is a horse who I feel is ahead of schedule in comparison to some of his rivals in this field, and I’m hoping he can kick start the day for us.
My next two picks for Stratford run in deep Handicaps, which is the reason I have put them both up as each way selections. I believe both horses have strong winning potential, and look sure to go well off their Handicap marks. It should be a cracking day of racing, ahead of a busy weekend which features top-class action from both sides of the water.

My NAP bet of the day runs in the Novices’ Hurdle, where there are some potential improvers in the field. Let’s start with Olly Murphy’s Tramuntana, who is a very intriguing sort. He won nicely on his Bumper debut at Fakenham, and was far from being disgraced in a hot contest at Market Rasen, so he could take another step forward here on his Hurdles debut here. Beau Quali is very interesting too. He is only a four-year-old, but his form stacks up nicely, having finished less than a length behind Ben Solo at Chepstow, and he must come into calculations.
Nevertheless, I’m going with the top-weighted Normelad. He was impressive at Uttoxeter last time out, and it’s highly likely he will improve again. Although he gives weight away here, he is very straightforward, and jumped nicely for the entire race last time. He seems physically ahead of the two four-year-olds, and potentially more ready to get the job done. Despite his weight penalty, I think that Normelad looks like a horse who is capable of far more, and I think he will be very tough to beat here.
We move on to a Handicap Hurdle next, and you could make a case for a few in here. Zhang Fei drops in class here, which is usually something that grabs my attention. However, he has already had plenty of opportunities to get his head in front, so I’m going to take him on. Karannelle is also a consistent horse, but the Handicapper appears to have her measure now, and she’s unlikely to be far away at the finish.
I feel it’s worth giving a chance to The Dream Goes On. Although she is still a maiden over Hurdles after three starts, she looks to be running on fairly good terms off a mark of 95. She has shown enough to suggest that she has a fair amount of ability, and as she steps into Handicap company for the first time, we may see her even more effective.
The Dream Goes On jumps well enough to contest in this type of race, and with jockey Oli Boyden claiming 10 lbs, she should be well in. I definitely think she is worth an each way shout here, amongst some fairly exposed rivals.
My final selection for Thursday comes in the 16-runner Handicap Chase. We have a very difficult puzzle to solve here, but I have a nice punt for you, who should come in at a nice each way price. First off though, a big danger here will be Harry’s Hope, who is running for the Ben Pauling team. This one is looking to make it three wins on the spin, and he’s certain to get competitive off a mark of 96. He does need to take another step forward to win this, and in such a deep field, he will need everything to go right for him.
The one that gets my vote here is Robert Walford’s Cooleenymore, who was on a steep upward curve before her summer break. Let’s put it this way, if she picks up where she left off, she will still be well ahead of the Handicapper in this field. She is proven over longer trips than this, so the slight drop back on her seasonal debut can only benefit her. Cooleenymore is a straightforward sort, and looks like a horse that can go on to much better things. She is a cracking each way punt here, and I will be very disappointed if she isn’t at least very competitive on these terms.
