We are off to Uttoxeter for the Jumps card on Thursday and I have two selections for you to take a look at. My first betting tip comes in the Mares’ Handicap Hurdle, where I have found a nice improver for the in-form Skelton team, who is also my NAP of the day. Running in the next race on the card is a horse that I’ve been following for a while now and this Handicap Hurdle looks like it will set up perfectly for him. So, overall I’m expecting a decent day on Thursday.
For Friday’s racing I’ll have another Lucky 15 for you, and if it’s anything like last week’s then you are in for a treat. Yes, last Friday we landed four from four, with winners at prices of 7/2, 9/2, 5/1 and 13/2, so let’s see if we can repeat history.
If you’re planning on taking a punt on the Utoxeter action, I’ve got just the thing - a brand new free bet offer from Betiton.
Bet £15, and you’ll get a £10 free bet in return. Sign up today, and you’ll have that free bet ready for the weekend.
My first selection of the day comes in the Mares’ Handicap Hurdle, where there are a few in the lineup with decent credentials. Top-weighted Just Dottie has been a lovely horse for Mike Smith and she won well at Perth last time out, and she should get competitive again, but as she is conceding weight all round, she won’t have the easiest task. On Se Calme could improve this season for Alan King, but she may need the run first time out.
Surely the one to side with here is the Dan Skelton-trained
Symbolic Spirit, who won last time out, despite making several errors. She really did fluff her lines at the last, but what impressed me was that she was game enough to keep going and win.
The fact she made mistakes, and still won a decent enough race, makes me think she is open to much more. Meanwhile, jockey Harry Skelton has achieved a strike rate of more than 50% in the last two weeks, so they are going to be a big danger to the rest of the field and tough to beat.
Next up, we have a tricky Handicap Hurdle where Jaramillo tops the weights for Warren Greatrex, and I must say, he is a lovely horse for the Owners Group syndicate. His runner-up effort at Huntingdon last time out was solid, and I think he can go close again off the back of that. However, he will need to tidy up his jumping a bit. I think we will see the best of him when he goes over fences, but that’s not to say he won’t be competitive here.
That said, my selection is Ben Pauling’s Davidoc, who has been progressing nicely and looks primed for a big run here. He always travels smoothly and came back from wind surgery to bolt up at Plumpton in April. Next time out at Warwick he was faced with a proper jumping test, which he handled very well indeed, and was only beaten by one very well-handicapped horse. He stays on consistently well, showing plenty of pace through his finishes too, so I believe this step up in trip will bring out even more from him. Due to the competitive nature of this race, he is probably worth backing each way, but he has strong win credentials here for sure.
