My betting tip for Tuesday runs at Catterick in the 2m Handicap over 1m 7f. He is already a two-time course winner, and hopefully he can land the hat-trick for us today. Personally, I think he has a fantastic chance of doing so.
If you are new to my articles, I post four betting tips most weeks, but you’ll sometimes find other types of content too, including big race trends, and antepost picks. By the way, don’t forget to check out my antepost selections for the 2025 Northumberland Plate, the 2026 Cheltenham Festival and the 2026 Aintree Grand National to grab those early prices. Also, make sure to tune back in on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday this week, as I’ll have more betting tips coming your way.
William Hill are offering a generous 8/1 with 3 places for Myboymax at Catterick. As well as a generous price, William Hill also has a superb deal for new customers. If you bet £10, you’ll get £30 of free bets. Surely the perfect offer with Royal Ascot just around the corner now!
There are several reasons that I think Myboymax will outrun his odds in the 2m Handicap at Catterick today. Make sure to keep reading so you can fully understand my logic for picking him!
Myboymax has a patchy record for his first run of each new campaign, with form figures of 443174. More often than not, he has improved for his reappearance. Therefore, it was very pleasing to see him run a huge race last time out, straight off the back of a 208-day break, and he shaped like he needed it at the business end.
It’s also worth noting that the run should be marked up, as Myboymax was denied a clear run against the far side rail. With a clear run, he would have certainly finished closer to the winner, and may well have beaten him.
The winner that day was Zephlyn, who finished just 1.75 lengths in front of Myboymax. On that occasion, Zephlyn was giving just 1lb to him. However, in today’s race, Myboymax receives 7lb, which is a 6lb swing. With such a considerable swing for a modest margin, Myboymax should be able to reverse the form.
On the Flat, Myboymax has run at Catterick 11 times to date, and those runs have generated two wins and five places, so he clearly loves this unique track.
Catterick is a sharp, left-handed oval track, covering just nine furlongs, three furlongs of which is a downhill run-in. It’s also an undulating track and when combining that with its sharpness, it’s not ideal for all horses. As a result, course form is more significant here than elsewhere.
In 64% of Myboymax’s races here, he has finished in the first three, so he is clearly in the percentage that performs well here, which is a huge positive for his chances.
Myboymax has recorded five wins on the Flat (turf) to date, with three of those on Good to Firm and the other two on Good going, so he clearly prefers a quicker surface.
Catterick is currently Good, Good to Soft in places. However, while there was a little rain overnight (circa 1mm), the rest of the day should be sunny and breezy, with no further rain forecast.
Between the lack of rain, the wind and the sunshine, I’m hoping the ground will dry out and the ‘Soft’ will be removed from the going description. The more it dries out, the better his chances.
When you consider how well Myboymax performed on his debut run last time, and he will almost certainly improve on it, I feel he is underestimated here at 8/1 off the same mark of 59.
As well as the improvement expected to come fitness wise, he was also denied a clear run last time, and a better performance is expected with more luck in-running. It also looks like the ground could dry up, and the more it does, the better his chance.
In addition, Myboymax carries just 8st 12lb, but with Aiden Brookes claiming 3lb, he’ll only carry 8st 9lb. Whilst Aiden is a 3lb claimer, he has been aboard for all six of Myboymax’s victories.
As we do need him to improve on his latest run, enjoy more luck in running, and we are also hoping the ground dries out, I’m limiting this bet to half stakes. This also reflects the fact that we are betting on Class 5 action, with a horse rated at just 59, meaning his performance cannot be relied upon.
Below you will find some of our recommended bookmakers and the superb free bet offers that they currently have available. There is plenty of value to be had by using these deals, so make sure you check them out!
