Another week, and another round of free betting tips for you. Today I have one that I like in the 2m Handicap Hurdle at Uttoxeter. I think this horse could get his breakthrough win over Hurdles at the tenth time of asking.
I typically produce four articles per week for betting.co.uk and like this one, they are usually daily betting tips. However, the content does vary considerably and I will also produce other types of articles such as guides, big race trends and antepost selections. At present, I have antepost selections up for the 2025 St Leger, 2026 Cheltenham Festival and 2026 Grand National, so be sure you check them out to take advantage of the early prices. For this week, I’ll be producing content today, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, so make sure you check back in for those!
With most bookies pricing Piecederesistance at 12/1 with 3 places paid, we can’t use the odds or the place terms to determine who to bet with this time. Instead, I’ve looked at which of them has the best sign up offer for new customers. In my opinion, Betfred is our clear winner. If you bet £10, you’ll get £50 in free bets. Make sure you take advantage.
Piecederesistance remains a maiden after nine starts over Hurdles, but I think he’s overdue a victory and I believe it will come today. As always with Handicaps, you could bump into one or two laid out for the race, but I see my selection fighting it out at the finish and he could well be the one that the others bump into today. Here, Ill explain why
Last month, Piecederesistance travelled to Fakenham for a 2m Handicap Hurdle but he bumped into Tara Iti who was running off a mark of 103. Tara Iti has since won again off 106, franking the form. In addition to that, Callin Baton Rouge was the last of the four to finish that day but has since won as well, further franking the form. That all looks very solid form and it would be no surprise if Piecederesistance came out today and franked it again.
That latest run at Fakenham came in a Class 4 (0-120) Handicap and Piecederesistance more than held his own. However, today sees him drop down to a Class 5 (0-100) race, and this is much calmer waters. Judged on official ratings, he is going from being the worst horse in the race to being the joint second best. As a result and despite carrying more weight, he should find this race much easier and I think there is every chance that sees him get his head in front.
He wasn’t helped by a steady gallop at Fakenham and it all became a sprint towards the finish. The slow pace of the race saw him race keenly which is always a big hindrance to your chances, as you are wasting energy that you could be using at the business end.
Also with Tara Iti getting the first run on him, he was unable to reel him in. However, what I find interesting is that from 6f out to the line, Piecederesistance actually finished the race quicker. He covered the final 6f in 1m 16.1s compared to Tara Iti’s 1m 16.56s. Whilst this doesn’t sound much, half a second in horse racing is quite substantial. I’d also give greater weight to that as well considering that Tara Iti has won again since.
Today’s race should be run at an honest pace with Lahire likely to lead the field and Turpin Gold likely to press him and ensure he doesn’t get an easy lead in front. The stronger the pace, the easier it will be for Piecederesistance to settle in behind them and the more energy he can conserve for the business end. I’d expect Brian Hughes to play him late and with a strong late burst, I’m hoping he’ll have too much speed and ability for his rivals in the home straight.
It’s not always plain sailing getting a Flat horse to perform over Hurdles and so it has proved with Piecederesistance. However, he more than has the ability to win a race at this level, he just needs to put it all together now.
At his peak on the Flat he was rated 88 and on that basis, even his open mark of 108 could have been generous over hurdles. However, after nine runs over hurdles to date, that mark has fallen 11lb now down to just 97. Along with that, he would have gained plenty of hurdling experience.
With the ever-growing experience, the falling mark, the drop in class and the proven depth of the form from his latest race, I think today is the day he puts it all together and gets his head in front. I’m struggling to see any negatives here with the Good ground even looking in his favour. Therefore, I’m going for a full 1pt Each Way bet on him today.
