We go to Beverley for today’s betting tip who seems to absolutely relish this track. He’s available at an each way price at the time of writing and I do feel that this is well worth a bet!
If you’re not familiar with me, I am RacingGav and I have been the resident horse racing expert here at Betting.co.uk since March 2025. I predominately provide free horse racing tips multiple times each week but I do also provide other forms of content here as well.
Some of these include, but are not limited to, horses and trainers to follow, educational guides and big race trends. For instance, I’ve put together a handy guide on Understanding the UK Handicap System and you might also want to check out my think piece on Horses for Courses - The Impact of Track Bias.
Most of the bookmakers across the industry are offering 11/2 for King Sharja and therefore, I won’t be using the best horse racing odds as the key factor for this bookie recommendation. My go-to here is Betfred and their biggest draw most certainly lies in their strong sign-up offer for new customers. If you open a new account and bet £10, you’ll get £50 in free bets! Yes, you read that right, £50 in free bets - Fantastic value if you ask me!
Today’s betting tip, King Sharja, loves the race course here at Beverley as I’ll explain in a little more detail in the next section. I think he is overpriced at 11/2 and has a fantastic chance of recording yet another win at this track. In this article, I’ll highlight my reasoning as to why I think he can win again.
King Sharja has won at Beverley not once, not twice but three times with all three of said victories coming over this 7.5f trip. He recorded two of those wins in 2024 but the most recent victory came in July 2025.
King Sharja clearly loves this course and distance and deserves plenty of respect on his return here. Especially with James Sullivan back on board, who’s ridden two of his three course wins at Beverley and three of his four career wins.
His three course- and distance wins came off marks of 54, 57, and 56 with his fourth win, on the All Weather at Southwell, off an even higher mark of 58.
As well as the wins, he has also placed second off marks of 57, 55 and 55 and third off 57. That form makes him well handicapped off his reduced marks of 53.
If you look back through the dates of King Sharja’s victories, I find it interesting that all three Turf victories have come during the months of July and August. Similarly, all three of his Turf wins have come on Good to Firm ground, which ties in nicely with the time of the year (summer). Therefore, with Good to Firm ground this time and with the race taking place in August, he looks to be racing in ideal conditions.
His overall record of 4/34 is not appealing but it becomes much more eye-catching when limited to races on Good to Firm only - 3/7. Also in his favour is the lovely low draw in stall three, which is a big bonus around here, as you want to be drawn low. Finally, he now drops into 0-55 company and given he has wins off 57, 56 and 58, I believe he could be a class above his rivals.
There is, no doubt, plenty in King Sharja’s favour. He’s a three time course and distance winner, who has fallen below the mark of all four of his career wins to date. This is his time of year and his favoured ground, so there are no excuses, really. Even more so with James Sullivan aboard, the draw in stall three and the drop down into 0-55 company.
In terms of potential drawbacks he is a low grade animal and naturally risks come with that, largely around consistency. He is also on a nine race losing run and his overall record of 4/34 is far from appealing. Furthermore, he needs to bounce back from a poor course and distance effort last month, where he only beat one rival home. Though in his defence, that was a 0-65 race.
All elements considered, I think he is worth an each way bet at an each way price of 11/2 but given the negatives highlighted, I’m only prepared to play half stakes on this one.
The £50 in free bets from Betfred is superb value but that’s by far the only offer available to you.
