I think I have found an absolute cracker of a bet to kick off this week! I think this horse is significantly overpriced at 18/1 and is well worth a bet! I can easily see her going off at a single figure price in this race and make the 18/1 look silly.
If you’re reading one of my articles for the first time, I’m RacingGav and I’m the resident horse racing tipster here at Betting.co.uk. I mostly produce daily betting tips like this article, but I do venture into other types of content, including antepost tips, guides, and big race trends.
Do you like antepost betting? If so, make sure you check out my existing articles here. Within them you will find antepost tips for the Cesarewitch Handicap and King George VI Chase this year and then the Cheltenham Festival and Aintree Grand National next year.
At the time of writing, Betway has Dandy’s Angel priced at 18/1 and they are paying four places, which is fantastic. In addition, if you’re new to Betway, you can also benefit from a generous sign up offer. If you bet £10, you’ll get a £10 in free bet. It’s well worth considering.
I think the bookmakers will regret having Dandy’s Angel priced so high, and I can see her going off much shorter. In this article, I’ll break down my case for her, so that you can see my logic.
This mare probably knows Beverley racecourse as well as she knows her own stable as she has raced here thirty times to date! Of those thirty runs here she has won six, and finished in the top three a further nine times.
Interestingly, all six of those wins have come over the 1m 2f trip:
It is also worth noting that her win on 5 July 2025 was the last time she raced over C&D. Since then she has had three runs away at Beverley over 1m 3f to 1m 4f, then a run back here last time out, but over 1m 0.5f which is too sharp for her, especially on Good to Firm ground.
She is a very versatile mare when it comes to ground having won on both extremes - Good to Firm and Heavy. However, I personally feel she is at her happiest when there is juice in the ground. The statistics back that up too, as seven of her eleven wins have come on Good to Soft (1), Soft (3), or Heavy (3).
At the time of writing, the official going is Soft (last updated at 08:41 on 16 September 2025). While Beverley had a fairly dry Tuesday, the forecast for today is around 4.1mm between 03:00 and 10:00, which should hopefully keep the going Soft.
Whatever the ground, I think she has a chance, but the more rain the better for her. As already covered, she has won three times on Heavy, so she would be perfectly happy with it bottomless. However, I’d be happy enough if it remained Soft.
As you can see earlier in the article, her last two wins over this C&D have come off marks of 61 and 62 and she now returns to this C&D off a mark of 60, so she is certainly handicapped to strike.
In her last two C&D runs, she has produced RPRs of 66 and 68 and a replication of those performances off her current mark of 60 would see her with every chance. When you consider that they were on Good and Good to Firm ground and she now gets more favourable conditions, it only makes the case for her even stronger.
As well as being over a shorter trip and on quicker ground, it is also worth noting that it was in Class 4 company. For some context, she is 0 from 4 in Class 4 races. However, she now drops back down to Class 5, which is the level that eight of her career wins have come at.
Whilst not necessarily a metric I’d pay too much attention to, it is quite interesting to see her record for the month of September only. Since the start of her career, she has run 15 times in September, recording three wins and five places. That is a 20% strike rate and a place rate of 53%, which certainly suggests this is her time of the year!
There are many positives for Dandy’s Angel today. She is a six time C&D winner, she has her favoured ground, she is handicapped to strike and she is dropping back down into Class 5 company. In terms of negatives I don’t think there are a great deal. She is eight now, heavily exposed with 84 runs to her name, and ultimately, we are talking about a low grade handicapper.
On the flip side, she has proven ability, especially in terms of today’s track, trip and conditions. The biggest concern I have is that she is a hold up horse who likes to come late with a big finish. On paper, the pace is pretty weak today, and it’s hard to see who is going to make the running. I just hope they don’t crawl and then turn it into a dash, which wouldn’t suit Dandy’s Angel, or any other horses racing towards the rear of the field. However, with a field of thirteen, you’d hope one will go forward and ensure an honest gallop.
As we are talking about an older, low grade handicapper and there is a concern over the pace in the race, I’m trimming the stake down to 0.75pt each way. I feel she is well worth that much of a bet, and especially at her current 18/1 price, which I feel is fantastic value. I fully expect her to go off at a shorter price, and hopefully we can get the value and a winning result!
