Welcome back everyone, I have two hot betting tips for you on Wednesday. The first runs at Ayr in the one mile Handicap, where we have a short-priced favourite in the lineup but I am taking him on. My second selection comes over the Jumps at Warwick and I am siding with a stable second string, who I believe will finish out the race the strongest.
The Flat season is in full flow now, and we have more classics to look forward to over the next couple of months. The summer jumps season is just getting underway though, and it’s interesting to see that Willie Mullins is starting an early raid, as he saddles his first British runner of the season in the opener at Warwick. Onlyamatteroftime is his Wednesday runner, who only has five lengths to find with Luccia, and will be very hard to beat. This is a trend we are likely to see more often moving forward.
As you’ll know, Willie won last season's British trainer title following his Grand National win, but he knows he can’t rely on that happening again, so we’re sure to see more Closutton runners through the summer, which is surely a good thing for British racing.
10Bet have a cracking offer for Wednesday, and if you're planning on taking a punt on my picks, then you might want to try this out. If you sign up and make a deposit of at least £15, then
10Bet will match your deposit 100% up to £50. Definitely worth checking out guys!
My first pick comes in the Fitzdares one mile Handicap where Kelpie Grey is looking to make it a four-timer for connections, but he is rapidly climbing up the weights and runs with a 5lb penalty here, which will catch up with him sooner or later. He is a horse going the right way and he could improve again, but he is giving weight to runners with good form around Ayr and they are at much bigger prices too.
So I think it could be worth taking a chance on
Garden Oasis, for the Tim Easterby team. He returned to action at Pontefract earlier this month, following a long break, where he ran a blinder to finish a close fourth. He has every possibility of building on that performance
with a decent run already under his belt, and as a previous course and distance winner, he looks quite well-handicapped. He won here this time last year off a mark of 75 and is 6lb better off now, so he definitely holds strong credentials. I really fancy his chances on conditions that look likely to suit and I think he’ll go very close indeed.
The Handicap Chase has just five runners but it’s still a pretty hot contest. Le Cameleon is still a little high in the weights for my liking, but it would be no surprise at all to see him run a big race. That said, you would be taking his return to form on trust and he may well prefer a little bit more cut in the ground. Dan Skelton is double-handed in this race and Home Free is the choice of Harry Skelton. He has a fair amount of ability and looks quite a straightforward type too. Last time out at Hexham he travelled strongly the whole way around, and jumped very nicely too, but he has gone up 3lbs and he will need to squeeze out more improvement.
I actually prefer his stablemate here, God’s Own Getaway who will be partnered by Tristan Durrell. He is also a strong traveller and looks better suited to this trip in my opinion. Most importantly, he is a strong finisher and I think connections are only just scratching the surface with this gelding. He won on his Chase debut at Southwell, then was narrowly beaten over course and distance by a subsequent winner, so I think this one will have plenty more to show us.
