I’m focusing on Newton Abbot on Friday, where we have an interesting Jumps card and I have two betting tips lined up for you. My first selection runs in the Handicap Hurdle and this is a horse that continues to be underestimated, despite being consistent, especially here at Newton Abbot. My second pick runs in the Mares’ Handicap Hurdle and she is another consistent type who ticks all the boxes
Looking ahead to the weekend there’s tons of racing to get stuck into, so I’ve decided to bring you a Lucky 31, with one selection for each meeting. Make sure that you keep your eyes open for that.
Just in time for the weekend, William Hill has a great offer you might want to take a look at. If you
bet £10, you’ll get £30 in free bets. Every little helps with such a big racing weekend ahead of us.
There may only be seven runners here, but this should be a really good race to watch. World Of Dreams is a lightly raced eight-year-old who looks quite well-handicapped and should make his presence felt again here, but he has been a little bit unpredictable lately. Midnight Ginger is another who could go well, but his running style may not be suited to the tactics here.
The one I’m siding with is the Michael Blake-trained gelding
Clearance, who continues to thrive and he is a very strong finisher too. He has won five of his last six starts here at Newton Abbot, and finished in second place on the sixth occasion.
He tends to get underestimated as a 10-year-old, but he keeps proving that age is just a number
and I can see him landing his seventh win here. This is the longest trip he has faced to date, but I have no doubts that he will stay, and I am expecting to see another huge run from him.
In the Mares’ Handicap Hurdle, Paul Nicholls and Harry Cobden team up with Dancingontheedge, who is still a maiden over Hurdles, but she continues to drop in the weights, so it would be no surprise to see her win sooner or later. Stowaway Jess is a nice sort as well, but she doesn’t always seem to stay this trip, which is a big concern when she is giving weight away to the field.
My pick here is Auditoria, who is Olly Murphy’s only runner of the day, and she looks open to plenty here. The drop back in trip seemed to work a treat on her latest outing, where she finished second at Southwell and that gives her something to build on over the same distance. She always travels strongly in her races and these conditions look ideal for her. She is a much more reliable sort than most in this field, and she is weighted to go very close indeed. I expect her to be quite tough to beat here under Sean Bowen.
