Welcome back racing fans. We have a decent day of racing on Wednesday and I have two selections for you. One over the Jumps at Uttoxeter during the day, and one in the evening at Ffos Las, with the latter being my NAP bet of the day.
Both of these runners look well-handicapped in their respective races and both are rapid improvers too. In fact, I will be quite disappointed if either of these were to get beaten and I’m hoping for a nice day of profit from the pair.
Looking ahead to Thursday's racing, I have three bets already lined up for you, and I’m looking to have a full week of profitable picks, so don’t forget to check back in every day.
If you’re planning on following my betting tips this week, then why not take advantage of this new customer offer from William Hill. If you
bet £10, you’ll get £30 in free bets. Definitely worth a second glance.
My first selection of the day runs over the Jumps at Uttoxeter, and we have seven runners in the lineup for this intriguing Handicap Hurdle. The Mark Walford-trained Allbetsoff is quite an interesting contender and on his best form, he would have solid credentials, but the fast ground doesn't seem to suit him well and this is quite a competitive race. Although he had a win on good ground at Hexham last year, it was a weak race and he has struggled on firm ground since, so I have some reservations about his chances.
The four-year-old I Still Have Faith represents the Brookhouse team. He is already a talented performer on the Flat and this will be his third start over Hurdles. He won impressively on his Hurdles debut at Wetherby in a modest event, before finding the step up to Graded company too much at Cheltenham. While this race will be easier than his last, he has had a couple of runs on the Flat since, and I’m not entirely convinced that the dual campaign will work in his favour here.
So, I'm siding with
Dog Fox, the only other four-year-old in the race, who represents the Greenall and Guerriero team. Dog Fox has had five starts over Hurdles to date, showing significant improvement with each run, and I believe there’s still much more to come from him. Initially, he was quite keen in his races, and a little inconsistent with his jumping. However,
he has settled better with experience, enabling him to travel smoothly and finish much more strongly. These new-found skills could prove crucial in what looks to be a tactical race. I don’t think Dog Fox is anywhere close to reaching the peak of his abilities and I anticipate a big performance from him here.
My second selection and NAP of the day comes on the evening Flat card at Ffos Las. Night Breeze is a consistent performer, having finished in the places on his last three starts, but he doesn’t look obviously well-treated here and may be vulnerable to an improver in this field. Although he is likely to run into a place again here, I honestly don’t think he can win this race.
Personally, I don’t think there’s another horse in this field that will get past Sir Mark Prescott’s Godsend. He clearly needed the run on his seasonal debut at Ripon, which was his first start after being gelded, judging by his convincing win at Lingfield last time out. He travelled strongly and pulled clear in the final few furlongs, despite having to race wide for the majority of the race. He is running under a penalty here, but Godsend is a very straightforward type who has shown all of the right signs to suggest he will improve again, and is certainly well ahead of the handicapper here.
