On Wednesday we have some tricky races to dissect, but I think that I’ve found two selections that are worth a punt. My first betting tip is for an each way shout at Catterick and this horse is very well-handicapped on his best form over course and distance. My other selection comes over at Lingfield and this three-year-old is my NAP bet of the day. He has really taken a big step forward for the drop back in trip and the field doesn’t look overly strong either so I am hoping for a big performance from him.
We have some good racing ahead this week. On Friday there is an intriguing entry, as Burdett Roads returns to the Flat at Ascot, before a possible tilt at next month's Ebor. Burdett Road is a nice type who was given a few spins over Hurdles and managed to finish 10 lengths behind the seriously-exciting Sir Gino, but his jumping leaves a lot to be desired. It’s good to see him back on the Flat, but I probably won’t be backing him this week, despite him being an intriguing entry.
Courtesy of 10Bet, I have a slightly different kind of bonus offer for you to look at. When you sign up and make your first deposit, you’ll get a 100% match, worth up to £50. Perfect for your midweek punts.
My first selection of the day runs in the Sky Bet Handicap which looks quite a competitive race. I was initially drawn to the consistent Obee Jo for the Easterby team, who has run well here at Catterick on multiple occasions, including a win over course and distance this time last year. However, that was off a mark of 57, and he is 4lbs higher this time, so a bigger performance will be needed. What is also worth noting, is that Obee Jo has run here at Catterick on five of his last six starts, but his only win came at Leicester, so he could be vulnerable to one or two here.
So, the one I am going to side with is
Mutanaaseq, who beat Obee Jo here back in September whilst giving him 8lbs. This time around, Mutanaaseq receives 2lbs from that one, which is a hefty turn around in the weights. Mutanaaseq hasn’t been in great form, but he did better last time out, finishing a close sixth to Miss Willows on soft ground.
He has won on a faster surface previously, so this could suit him nicely, and a return to peak form may well be imminent. I think he makes a decent each way punt, in an open field, having won off a mark 67 twice before.
My NAP bet of the day comes just 40 minutes later, in the 7f Handicap for three-year-olds. We have an interesting lineup of runners, but a few are looking a little exposed, despite their young age. One of the less exposed options is Forever Noah, who has had just three runs to date where he showed a fair amount of form. He has been gelded since his last run, and it would be no surprise to see him take a step forward here. Richard Hannon’s Lyraisa is also a nice filly, and although she was a beaten favourite last time out, she is bred to improve and could get very competitive here.
But I believe the one to be on in this field is Savvy Warrior, who looks well up to a race like this. He has mainly been raced over a mile or more, but the recent drop back to seven furlongs seems to suit him much better. He won over this trip on his first attempt on good ground at Wetherby and then backed it up with a decent effort on softer conditions, off a mark 4lbs higher. He is another that seems to prefer faster conditions, and he should prove quite hard to beat if he can resume progress. Savvy Warrior has some strong form in the book and less questions to answer than most of his rivals, I think this is a good opportunity for him to get back in the winners enclosure.
