Bournemouth welcomes Chelsea to the Vitality Stadium on Sunday and it is a game I am really looking forward to. The bookies have Chelsea down as the 4/7 favourites to win away whilst the home team Bournemouth are 3/1 to get a result and the points are quite important to both teams at this early stage of the season. The bookies certainly have this in favour of Chelsea, but there have been some really good games between these two sides that make it interesting. They both play good football and this could be a bit closer than what the bookies have priced up. Let’s take a look at the two teams.

Bournemouth are yet to get a win under their belts this season but they have drawn twice and lost twice, but the two losses were against Liverpool and Tottenham who have both started this season very well and understandably got the better of Bournemouth, but they have played well in the process. Chelsea have struggled a little bit themselves too having won one, drawn one and lost two which includes their latest defeat to Nottingham Forest 1-0 at home so they will be desperate to pick up three points here.
In the last 5 meetings between Bournemouth and Chelsea, the blues have won 3, Drawn 1 and lost 1, and even though the record is pretty solid, they do tend to make it hard against Bournemouth. I don’t feel like the head to head record does us any favours on this occasion especially as Chelsea are coming into this fixture in bad form. I think Bournemouth are going to make this tough for them on Sunday.
So how does the game pan out? Well first of all both teams have a full line up which of course helps us out when making our selections, but even though Chelsea are odds on to win the game, I don’t think it’s going to be as clear cut as that. Bournemouth have a habit of scoring first against Chelsea and I think it would be typical if they were to do so again here and then for Chelsea to come back and steal the 3 points in the second half, so if they do go ahead early, it could be worth having a small punt on Chelsea to win once the price drifts. On paper it shouldn’t work out like that as mentioned, but I fancy Bournemouth to make a game of this having played some good football in their opening fixtures, whilst Chelsea really do need to find a bit of form. I think going behind to Bournemouth in a strange way will help Chelsea step up to the plate and even though this is going to be a close game, ultimately I think Chelsea get the job done in the end but you may find better 4/7 shots elsewhere. Perhaps the way to go here to find yourself some value would be for Chelsea to win but for both teams to score at 21/10.
