Brighton look to extend their lead at the top of the premier league on Saturday afternoon as they play hosts to fellow Europa League contenders West Ham. Brighton are a much improved outfit from last season and have started in the same fashion this season too, but they have a tough game ahead of them with the Hammers visiting the Amex!

Heading into gameweek 3, both teams are in really good form and full of confidence. Brighton are two wins from two games having scored a total of 8 goals and the bookies are taking no chances and with them this week and they are currently the 1/2 favourites against West Ham who are a general 9/2 shot. The hammers will be no push over here though having started with a draw in the season opener against Bournemouth, but were much improved to beat Chelsea 3-1 last week and I don’t think this is going to be quite as clear cut as what the bookies do at this stage.
Brighton dominate the head to heads in the last 5 games having won three and drawn the other two but they are trying to make it four wins in a row against the hammers here. Last season Brighton beat West Ham 4-0 at home, and also won 2-0 away so they are certainly in the driving seat, but West Ham had a very busy campaign so perhaps those performances can be slightly forgiven. West Ham have also started this season well and this match could turn out to be closer than what we see in the head to heads.
This week’s game between Brighton and West Ham is going to be a belter. Brighton are top of the league having won both of their opening fixtures 4-1 whilst West Ham come into the game having beat Chelsea 3-1 at home, so both teams are going to be full of confidence this week.
Brighton can seemingly do no wrong though at the moment and having scored 8 goals in their first two games has to be a big threat to West Ham. The most impressive thing about Brightons 8 goals so far though is the fact that they have come from all over the pitch so they are going to cause West Ham problems for sure. I think Mitoma scoring last week for the seagulls is going to be a big confidence booster for him and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him score anytime at 7/4.
I do think West Ham can cause Brighton problems but with new recruit James Milner likely to start again at right back, Brighton are going to be tough to break down. West Ham have conceded 6 goals in two games against Brighton without return and I think it could be a similar story this time too. I think Brighton get the job done 2-0 against the Hammers.
