This fight between Caroline Dubois and Terri Harper could be the best fight of the year, and we are only in April.
On an all women's card at the Olympia in Kensington, Dubois will put her WBC lightweight title on the line against WBO lightweight champion Harper.
There is a lot of hype surrounding Dubois. This is not just because she is the sister of Daniel Dubois. She is a brilliant fighter, but I think she is being pushed to far and she is believing her own hype that she is the best women fighter to ever lace up a glove.
In my personal opinion, she comes across too arrogant and disrespectful. Yes, it works for some boxers, but she has only had 13 professional fights. She has not been properly tested yet.
Dubois is undefeated as a professional. She has won 12 of her 13 fights with one ending in a draw - against Jessica Camara last January. Seven of those wins went the distance.
Terri Harper is a different type of boxer that Dubois has every faced. The girl from Doncaster is a scrapper, she does not know when she is beaten.
She has tasted defeat twice as a professional. She has lost to Sandy Ryan and Alycia Baumgardner, while she has picked up two draws against Cecilia Braekhus and Tasha Jonas in what was an absolute war.
Harper won the WBO lightweight belt with a unanimous decision win over Rhiannon Dixon in September 2024 and she won her first defence last May with a same outcome victory over Natalie Zimmermann.
I will admit to being a massive Harper fan. I like how she conducts herself and she was the second British woman to win a major boxing title after Nicola Adams.
However, Dubois is a big hitter. I might not be a fan of he she speaks to other fighters and how she comes across in interviews, but she is a brilliant boxer and it will take something special to beat her.
Harper will take Dubois the distance and I do feel this will be Dubois toughest test yet. But Dubois will edge it on points for me. I think Harper can be rash at times and Dubois will pick her off and dominate going into the championship rounds of the fight.
I am going with Dubois to win it on points. The two minute rounds gives this a better chance of the fight going the distance, so I am backing Dubois to claim both belts.
