Chantelle Cameron will be looking to become the unified super welterweight champion of the world when she takes on the dangerous Mikaela Mayer at Bp Pulse LIVE in Birmingham on Saturday, August 29.

Cameron - who is the only female to beat Katie Taylor as a professional - is the current WBO super welterweight champion, while Mayer holds the WBA and WBC versions. Mayer also held the WBO belt before she vacated, which allowed Cameron to get the strap with a unanimous points decision win over Michaela Kotaskova earlier this year.

Cameron defeated Taylor back in May 2023 in Dublin with a majority points decision, but she lost the rematch six months later with Taylor taking her WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO, IBO and The Ring light welterweight belts.

Since that loss, Cameron has won four successive fights against Elhem Mekhaled, Patricia Berghult, Jessica Camara and Kotaskova to set up this unification fight with Mayer.

Mayer is a superstar in the ring. She has a professional record of 24 fights, 22 wins and just two defeats. Her only two defeats as a professional came against Alycia Baumgardner and Natasha Jonas.

Two consecutive victories against Sandy Ryan regained her confidence and got her back on the world stage as the WBO welterweight champion. She then won on points against Mary Spencer to claim the WBA, WBC and WBO super welterweight title belts.

She vacated the WBO belt which saw Cameron pick it up, and all three belts will be on the line in Birmingham.

The Mayer vs Cameron fight has the potential to be the best female fight of the year. They are two of the best women fighters in the world. Cameron has already shown that she is a world beater with her win over Taylor, while Mayer is a warrior and does not know the meaning of quitting.

This is a very hard fight to call. I don't like it being a factor, but I think with it being in the UK, Cameron has the advantage, It is no secret in the world of boxing that a foreign visitor will more than likely need a knockout to claim victory.

There will be no knockouts in this fight. These two women will go at it hell to leather. It will be a war. Cameron wanted the fight rounds to be extended to three minutes, but Mayer's camp pushed for it to remain at two minutes.

If the fight was under three-minute rounds, I would have no problem in picking Cameron as the winner. She has always pushed for the rules to be changed, she grows into each round and with an extra minute she could do some damage.

I believe Mayer is good enough to not let home advantage for Cameron became an issue. The two minute rounds certainly suit Mayer, that's why she pushed hard to keep them. She does a lot of work in the opening minute of each round to get the judges to notice.

And because of this, I have to reluctantly back Mayer to go home with all three belts with a points decision victory.
