World Cup of Darts Outright Tips

England’s star pairing of Luke Littler and Luke Humphries will get a second crack at winning the World Cup together after last year’s surprise last-16 exit to hosts Germany.

No nation has lifted the title more often than England, with five World Cup victories to their name. Humphries was part of one of those successes with Michael Smith, but it was Northern Ireland duo Josh Rock and Daryl Gurney who claimed the crown in 2025 despite England going into the tournament as overwhelming favourites.

They head the market once again at 4/7, although the price is slightly bigger than it was 12 months ago given Littler and Humphries are still 0-1 as a partnership.

Four-time winners the Netherlands are second favourites at 5/1. They line up with a fresh combination this year as World Championship finalist and European Champion Gian van Veen prepares for his second World Cup appearance, and his first with Michael van Gerwen.

Van Veen’s form has not quite been where he would want it in recent months, but few players outside of the England contingent arrive with a higher ceiling. Meanwhile, the timing could be ideal for Van Gerwen, who heads into the event off the back of victory at the Nordic Darts Masters.

Northern Ireland are next in the outright market at 10/1, with Scotland priced up at 12/1 as Gary Anderson teams up with a fourth different partner at the World Cup.

The Flying Scotsman has lifted the title with two of his previous three teammates, but asking Cameron Menzies to make it a hat-trick may be a stretch. The world number 29 has shown his quality on tour but has also had some difficult moments under the brightest lights.

Germany follow at 20/1, while Wales are available at 25/1 as they once again head into the tournament without Gerwyn Price, who also missed the 2024 World Cup.

Tipster Ben Smith has four selections, all placed with BetMGM, one of the best darts betting sites you can use to bet on this competition.

Czechia to win the World Cup (each-way 50/1)

Perhaps this is cutting England a little too much slack given they are represented by the two best players in the world, but there was an element of misfortune about last year’s loss. Germany was one of the tougher draws they could have received for their first outing together, and the hosts produced a stunning performance on the night.

It feels unlikely that things line up so perfectly for another early elimination, and once Littler and Humphries settle into the tournament, they may prove almost impossible to stop.

At 4/7, they don't appeal as a bet, but if I’m taking them on, it has to be a small interest at big odds.

England and, arguably, the Netherlands stand apart from the rest of the field, but beyond that, almost everyone looks beatable, and there are probably 10 nations where a run to the final would not be a huge shock if one of the big names falls early.

Czechia fit into that group. Led by Karel Sedlacek, they have steadily improved in this event, reaching the knockout stage in 2024 before going a step further with a quarter-final appearance last year.

Adam Gawlas missed out in 2025 but returns this time in good enough form to offer far more than just support. The 2023 UK Open semi-finalist picked up a Development Tour title on Sunday and averaged in the 90s in five of his nine matches. That sort of level may do just fine alongside Sedlacek, whose overall average over the last two months is 94. In this format, you can certainly get by on those numbers.

They have also landed a favourable group containing Denmark and India. If the draw opens up again in the second round, Czechia aren't to be ruled out here.

Spain to win the World Cup (each-way 125/1)

I do not have the same conviction behind Spain as I do Czechia, but nor should I at a triple-figure price. They still appeal, though, because they possess the best individual player outside the seeded nations in Cristo Reyes, who would improve every team outside the top six or seven.

His partner Jose Justicia does not stack up particularly well on the stats, but he at least brings experience at this event and, as a former Tour Card holder, knows what will be required.

New Zealand to Win Group A (7/2)

Germany look a vulnerable favourite in Group A. Ricardo Pietreczko has had issues with his release this year, while Martin Schindler has struggled to put together sustained form. Both the Philippines and New Zealand are capable teams, and this feels like a section where all three nations have a realistic chance.

You could make a case for taking either of Germany’s opponents, but I’ve sided with New Zealand because there is so little between them and the Philippines while the price offers more reward.

Hong Kong to Win Group B (3/1)

Belgium could easily put together a decent run at this World Cup. Dimitri Van den Bergh has shown signs of life, and Mike De Decker can produce high-level darts in patches, but these are short-format contests, and there is no way they should be priced so short to come through a group that also features Hong Kong.

This will be Lok-Yin Lee and Man Lok Leung’s fourth World Cup together. They reached the quarter-finals in 2025, a run that included an impressive 8-4 win over Sweden, where they averaged 94.16.

I make this the best pre-tournament outright bet on the board.
