Brendan Rodgers is under contract at Leicester City until 2025; however, another poor performance from Leicester midweek has raised further concerns about the future of the Foxes manager.
Leicester City head to Stamford Bridge this weekend with just one point to their name. Would a win here be enough to salvage some breathing space? Or, much like their recent kit release, is it too late for Rodgers?

Having joined Leicester in February 2019, Rodgers was tasked with taking a lacklustre side that had been guided by Puel back to the dizzying heights of the 2015-16 season. The end of the 18/19 season saw Leicester finish in 9th place; however, the following two seasons showed glimpses of a possible future as legitimate Top 4 contenders.
The 19/20 and 20/21 seasons saw Leicester finish in 5th place, securing Europa League spots. Although the footie odds were rarely favourable towards the Foxes, Rodgers and his squad managed to make it out of the group stage, only to come up short against an impressive Slavia Prague side. The 20/21 season also saw Leicester win their first ever FA Cup, beating Chelsea 1-0.
Unfortunately, things all start to go downhill for Brendan and the Blue Army in 21/22. Too many simple mistakes forced Leicester to fall short at the Europa League group stage, managing just 2 wins, 2 draws and encountering 2 losses along the way. Although they made the quarter-finals of the EFL cup, a mid-table finish was simply not good enough from a young team with such promise.
As we briefly mentioned earlier, the Foxes have had a terrible start to the 22/23 season. Much to the confusion of most UK online bookmakers, Leicester find themselves in 19th place with a real battle on their hands.
After going two-nil up against Brentford in the opening game of the season, the Foxes managed to throw away an almost-certain three points in the last few minutes. Away at Arsenal, Leicester looked sluggish, were outplayed for the full 90 minutes, and deserving of the 4-2 loss. Against Southampton, Leicester managed to throw away yet another lead, resulting in a 2-1 loss. Things then went from bad to worse midweek, requiring penalties to take care of Stockport County - a team that is currently struggling in League 2.
If you’ve been paying any attention to the news, the latest odds suggest that things are about to get a whole lot worse for Brendan. Not only has Schmeichel left, leaving a massive dent in the team but Tielemans looks almost set to join league-leaders Arsenal, Fofana and Rodgers have fallen out over a suspected move to Chelsea, and Leicester have got to face Chelsea, Man United, and Tottenham all within the next five games.
Leicester now join the likes of Wolves and Bournemouth as prime relegation candidates and we could quite easily see Brendan walk before he’s given the sack!
Does Rodgers deserve a little more time? Let us know in the comments!
