Euro 2020 | Race For The Golden Boot - Our Predictions!

Publish Date: 07/06/2021
Fact checked by: James Leeland

We’re officially into Euro 2020 week! This Friday, Turkey and Italy will be the first to go head-to-head in Group A and kick off the infamous European Championships.

This is it! The major tournament kicks off at the weekend, and football fans across the continent are already extremely excited. Who will prevail at the end of the month? Who will be heading to the final at Wembley Stadium on July 11?

One interesting talking point that is always a debate during major international tournaments is the race for the Golden Boot. Every player involved can join the race, but there are definitely a few strikers to keep your eyes peeled for during the next month.

Euro 2020 Official

Harry Kane - England

First up in the list is the 2018 World Cup Golden Boot winner – none other than England's very own Harry Kane! The Spurs man is without doubt one of the best strikers around at the moment, and will always be leading the line for England.

With a group that has a number of opportunities to get some goals, we will no doubt see Kane on the scoresheet in the tournament. Of course, there are a few factors that will influence the outcome of the Golden Boot race, but if England progress to the knockout stages, it is likely that part of that will be thanks to Kane.

According to the bookies, Kane is currently favourite to win the race – find odds at 5/1 with 888sport today!

Romelu Lukaku – Belgium

In just 93 matches for Belgium, Romelu Lukaku has managed to score 60 goals in his international career. The striker has become the youngest European to score 60 goals for his country since German footballing legend Gerd Muller.

Lukaku has joined the Belgium setup after being crowned Serie A champions with Inter Milan. If he continues his form heading into the Euros, then Lukaku’s goals will play a major part in Belgium progressing far into the competition.

You can get odds for Romelu Lukaku to win the Golden Boot at the Euros with odds at 13/2 with 888sport!

Romelu Lukaku

Robert Lewandowski - Poland

Arguably the best striker in the world at the moment, Robert Lewandowski is back after his injury towards the end of the club campaign. Following his recovery, he is now ready and raring for his country.

Poland are by no means considered one of the favourites, but when a team has Lewandowski up top, it’s difficult to dismiss them. We also told everyone to look out for Poland as a Euro 2020 dark horse, so don’t count them just yet.

In terms of individual performance, Lewandowski could definitely snap up the Golden Boot as he will be Poland’s main man.

Karim Benzema – France

The Real Madrid striker has just been recalled into the France setup, and he is looking stronger than ever for his country. Benzema is joining the current World Champions, and that’s not bad at all. Could their dominance in international football continue with Benzema leading the line?

There’s no doubt that France are already one of the favourites to win the tournament, and it is likely that Benzema will play a major part in their starting XI. So, if you like what you’re hearing – you’ll love the fact that at the moment, the bookmakers are offering extremely generous odds for Benzema to win the race for the Golden Boot.

Karim Benzema

Cristiano Ronaldo – Portugal

How could anyone dismiss CR7? Ronaldo will always be in the conversation when it comes to top goalscorers. As well as that, there’s a possibility that Euro 2020 will be his last major international tournament – he will definitely want to end on a high.

Much like France, Portugal are considered one of the heavy favourites heading into the tournament, and with an array of young talent on show, it’s hard to argue against that. Combine youth and energy with Ronaldo’s leadership and finishing quality, and it could end up being a winning formula for the tournament.

Use the 888sport sign up offer to place your bet on Cristiano Ronaldo to win the Euro 2020 Golden Boot – odds are currently at 9/1!
