The FA Cup logo before a tie in the competition
As teams across the globe enjoy a break from domestic football, the Premier League is placed on the backburner and the FA Cup becomes the focus.
Kidderminster Harriers, Boreham Wood, and Hartlepool are amongst the teams dreaming of an extended FA Cup run. So, for part one of our FA Cup coverage, we are going to cover the underdogs remaining and the best bets to make with the leading UK providers.
The only team below the National League that remains are the Kidderminster Harriers. The National League North side began their journey in the second qualifying round, and now they find themselves against West Ham United.
After qualifying for the first round proper, the Harriers journey consisted of defeating Grimsby and FC Halifax before being matched with Reading in round three. They shocked the Royals with a 2-1 victory at Aggborough, but to recreate that shock against West Ham, the Harriers are 88/4 with 888Sport.
As for West Ham United, they had an all-Premier League tie to overcome to make the fourth round. They comfortably beat Leeds 2-0 at the London Stadium to acquire the fixture against Kidderminster, but they could be viewed as outsiders for the whole tournament.
They are 1/4 favourites with 888Sport to win the game against Kidderminster, but we think 10/1 to win the whole tournament with Betfred is a nice outsider.
One step above Kidderminster lies Boreham Wood. The National League side were rewarded for making the fourth round with a tie at the Vitality Stadium.
They entered in the fourth qualifying round of the FA Cup, beating Barnet to make the FA Cup proper. After beating fellow non-league outfits Eastleigh and St. Albans City to make the third round, Boreham Wood beat AFC Wimbledon to secure a spot in the third round.
Due to them being away from home, we think this game is unlikely to end as a shock. However, the FA Cup is magic, so Luke Gerrard’s side are 47/4 with 888Sport to make the next round.
As for Bournemouth, they may value promotion from the Championship over an FA Cup run. Scott Parker’s side have lost ground on Fulham, whilst losing their cushion over the chasing pack.
They should make it through this one unscaved, and that is reflected in the 1/4 odds with 888Sport.
Whilst they aren’t a non-league outfit, Hartlepool United are the only League Two side remaining in the FA Cup.
They entered the tournament in the first round proper, but they had to beat two League One sides to make it this far. The Pool beat Wycombe after a replay in the first round, and they knocked out Lincoln in the last round to get this far.
Much like Boreham Wood, they’re away from home, and that immediately lowers the odds of a shock. They are 22/1 to beat Palace at Selhurst Park with 888Sport.
On the other hand, Palace are clear favourites with 1/8 odds on 888sSport. Patrick Viera’s side won the all-London battle between themselves and Millwall in the last round, and they should have enough to topple Hartlepool.
As for their chances of winning the FA Cup, they are 28/1 with Betfred.
