The second Champions League semi-final takes place on Wednesday evening as Atletico Madrid host Arsenal. Neither side head into this fixture in top gear despite winning last time out - so who takes the advantage to North London next week?

Our football tipster Nathan Joyes has scanned through the Champions League odds and provided his best bet prediction for the match.

Atletico will look to win

After beating Barcelona at the beginning of the month, Diego Simeone - and fans alike - would not have expected to lose their next four matches in a row. Defeats against Sevilla, Barcelona and Elche in La Liga have followed, as well as losing the Copa Del Rey final on penalties vs Real Sociedad.

Atletico did, however, bounce back at the weekend with a 3-2 win over Athletic Bilbao at home. Despite a return to winning ways, it was worrying to see Simeone's side concede two goals for the fifth match in a row.

If his side are to come out of this tie with three points - it's looking as though they will need to score at least two goals - something they have done in four of their six matches in April. However, it's their two clean sheets from a possible 10 which is concerning.

Arsenal to tread carefully

Arsenal edged past Sporting 1-0 on aggregate to make it to this stage of the competition, yet defeats against Man City and Bournemouth in between have shown their season is perhaps starting to take its toll on them.

Similar to Atletico, Arsenal did return to winning ways after three matches without one with a 1-0 win over Newcastle last Saturday. A first half strike from Eberechi Eze enough to secure three key points.

But on their travels recent performances haven't been to their usual standard. Sub par performances against Mansfield, Leverkusen and Southampton will have Arsenal fans worried - who will need to rally if they are to come away with a positive result.

These two sides locked horns in the Champions League group stage back in October, where Arsenal ran riot at the Emirates with a 4-0 win. That was their first win over their Spanish opponents since 2009 - but this will be their first clash in the Champions League at the Metropolitano Stadium

With both sides out of form, it's perhaps difficult to know what will happen in Spain. However, Nathan Joyes has analysed recent matches and has put forward his best Champions League  bet for the match.

Goals overlooked in Spain

Atletico Madrid (19/10 with Betfred) and Arsenal (13/8 with Betano) are both odds-against as the bookmakers are struggling to work out who's going to come out on top.

And while I agree, I'm turning my attention to the goals market as there's value to be had. Atletico Madrid have scored in their last 17 matches. They have also scored in their last 10 at home. This really is a must win game for Simeone's team.

Arsenal have only kept two clean sheets on their travels from their last 10 matches, although they too have been prolific, scoring in all of those matches. They put four past Atletico in the group stage, and they will know that Atletico's defence is there for the taking.

So instead of getting caught up and enticed with the winner market, my best play is to focus on both teams finding the back of the net. Atletico must go for it, but their defence can't be trusted. Good luck if you're following.
