There are nine Bundesliga matches scheduled this week, taking place from Friday 12 December to Sunday 14 December. Bundesliga tipster Ben Smith has set out his latest bets and predictions for the round, with each pick matched to the most suitable Bundesliga betting odds for every fixture.
Union Berlin vs RB Leipzig
Union Berlin have been involved in two goalless home games this season, but aside from those, every other match has gone over 2.5 goals. Even those 0-0s were anything but dull, with both producing over two expected goals.
Leipzig’s most recent away match also finished 0-0, yet the underlying numbers suggested it should have featured goals. The results for both sides haven’t always reflected the chances created, so over 2.5 goals looks the sensible approach here and is often a fruitful route in the Bundesliga.
Betting Tip: Over 2.5 Goals - 10/13 10bet
Eintracht Frankfurt vs Augsburg
Manuel Baum made an ideal start as interim Augsburg manager last weekend, guiding his side to a surprise 2-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen - only their second victory in seven.
Frankfurt, meanwhile, are now four without a win. They were hammered by Leipzig last weekend and then had a demanding midweek trip to Barcelona, so backing them at odds-on holds little appeal.
Augsburg +0.75 on the Asian handicap looks the smarter play. It pays out with a draw and only loses half the stake if they are beaten by a single goal, which accounts for three of their four away defeats this season.
Betting Tip: Augsburg +0.75 Asian Handicap - 19/20 BetMGM
Mönchengladbach vs Wolfsburg
After a dreadful start to the season, Borussia Mönchengladbach have turned things around and are now one of the form sides in the Bundesliga.
The 0-0 draw with second placed Leipzig is their only slip in five matches, and they have conceded just one goal in that spell, a penalty.
Wolfsburg, by contrast, were on a three game losing run in the league before stopping the rot with a draw with Eintracht Frankfurt and then a win over Union Berlin. Even so, Gladbach look the stronger side at this point and remain the more convincing option.

FC St. Pauli vs Heidenheim
Second bottom meets third bottom on Saturday, giving St. Pauli a chance to climb above Heidenheim and move out of the relegation zone.
Their home form, however, has been poor. They have lost their last four at Millerntor, conceding 10 goals across those matches. Both teams allow plenty of chances and carry enough attacking threat of their own, so over 2.5 goals stands out as the most sensible angle.
Betting Tip: Over 2.5 Goals - 6/5 BetMGM
Hoffenheim vs Hamburger SV
Hoffenheim have completely reversed their home form this season. They opened with three defeats at PreZero Arena, then followed up with three straight wins, finally looking settled on their own patch.
Hamburg’s away form has gone the opposite way. They failed to score in their first three away games but at least collected two 0-0 draws. Since then, they have lost three in a row on their travels, which has dragged them down to 13th. With both trajectories in mind, Hoffenheim look a fair price to hand Hamburg yet another difficult road outing.
Betting Tip: Hoffenheim to Win - 3/4 Coral
Leverkusen vs Köln
Leverkusen are hard to read at the moment. Across their last five home matches in all competitions, they have been beaten by five, won by six, and otherwise produced a win, a loss and a draw.
That inconsistency, along with clear defensive issues, makes 4/7 a little short for them to beat Köln, especially as Köln have scored in all but one of their away games. Leverkusen may well find a way to take the points, but both teams to score and over 2.5 goals looks the more comfortable option.
Betting Tip: Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals - 5/6 QuickBet
SC Freiburg vs Dortmund
Freiburg have scored in every home game this season and remain the only side to have put two past Bayern in Munich, so there is no real doubt about their ability to contribute here.
Dortmund offer the same reassurance, having scored in every league match so far. With both teams showing consistent attacking output, the line of over 2.5 goals looks surprisingly generous.
Betting Tip: Over 2.5 Goals - 17/20 BetMGM
Bayern vs Mainz
Bayern conceded first against Sporting on Tuesday, continuing a small pattern at the Allianz Arena where they have also allowed the opener in their last two home league matches.
That slight dip defensively only strengthens the case for goals, especially as Bayern continue to produce high totals of their own.
They should come out on top here, but given recent trends, it would be no surprise if Mainz managed to find a way through as well.
Betting Tip: Bayern to Win & Over 3.5 Goals - 8/11 QuinnBet
Werder vs VfB Stuttgart
Stuttgart’s solid run came to an abrupt halt with a 5-0 defeat to Bayern last weekend. This week’s assignment is less daunting, but still a tough one, as they travel to Bremen to face a Werder side who have taken 10 points from a possible 12 at home.
Sebastian Hoeneß’s side have managed only two wins from seven away matches, so siding with the hosts on the double chance makes sense. Adding over 1.5 goals, which has landed in every Stuttgart away game, helps bring the price into a more workable range.
Betting Tip: Werder Double Chance & Over 1.5 Goals - 78/100 QuickBet
