Two evenly matched sides meet in the opening game of the midweek round, with just three points separating Stuttgart and Eintracht Frankfurt in the table.

Stuttgart have one of the lowest-rated home attacks in the league, while Frankfurt’s away defence has been the poorest in the division. On the other side of the matchup, Frankfurt boast the third-best away attack, but Stuttgart’s home defence ranks sixth overall.

With strengths and weaknesses on both sides lining up closely, this contest could balance itself out over 90 minutes, which makes the draw a realistic option to consider.

Hamburger SV vs Bayer Leverkusen

Bayer Leverkusen were taken apart by Stuttgart at the weekend, conceding four goals for the first time this season in a heavy home defeat.

They still look vulnerable at the back, but the attacking threat remains, which points towards another open game here against a Hamburg side involved in plenty of goals. They have seen both teams score in all six of their matches against sides ranked second through to eighth in the table.

Both teams to score is priced on the short side, but there does appear to be some value in backing each side to score at least twice in what could turn into a high-scoring affair.

Borussia Dortmund vs Werder Bremen

After conceding what looked like a 92nd-minute winner for Eintracht Frankfurt on Friday night, Borussia Dortmund still found a way to take a point, with substitute Carney Chukwuemeka equalising four minutes later.

That result extended Dortmund’s unbeaten run in the Bundesliga to nine matches, and they look well placed to push that sequence into double figures here. Performances at home have been particularly convincing, with the hosts yet to concede a goal in any of their league wins at Signal Iduna Park this season.

Niko Kovac’s side have shown good control in those fixtures, making Dortmund to win to nil stand out as an appealing option at the prices.

Mainz 05 vs Heidenheim

It is a six-pointer between the league’s bottom two sides on Tuesday, and it is hard to see a clear route to success for Heidenheim.

RB Leipzig vs SC Freiburg

RB Leipzig’s most recent home game brought their first dropped points of the season at the Red Bull Arena.

Even so, it followed a familiar pattern for Leipzig, with four goals scored and chances at both ends. It was the first time they failed to score at least twice at home, although the underlying numbers suggested they should have managed that comfortably.

A goals-based angle again looks sensible here against a Freiburg side that were involved in an eight-goal contest away to Bayern Munich recently.
