There are nine Bundesliga matches taking place across this weekend, with the action starting on Friday, 19 December and ending on Sunday, 21 December. Bundesliga tipster Ben Smith has put forward his bets and predictions for the round, with each pick matched to the most suitable Bundesliga betting odds.
Dortmund v Monchengladbach
Borussia Monchengladbach have won their last three away games in the Bundesliga, which has been important given they have managed only one home win all season.
Extending that run will not be easy at the Westfalenstadion, where Dortmund have taken 14 points from a possible 18 this term.
Dortmund look short enough in the market, but fading goals appeals instead, with only two of their 14 matches seeing more than three goals so far this season.
Betting Tip: Under 3.0 Asian Goals - 17/20

VfB Stuttgart v Hoffenheim
Stuttgart were thumped by Bayern Munich in their last home match, but overall they have tended to win the games they would be expected to this season.
Whether a home meeting with Hoffenheim falls into that category is open to debate, and at around even money it looks a tough sell. Hoffenheim did lose at Dortmund, but aside from that they have won four and drawn two away, and they look capable of taking something here.
Betting Tip: Hoffenheim Double Chance - 5/6 Betway
Wolfsburg v SC Freiburg
It remains to be seen whether interim boss Daniel Bauer has a realistic chance of earning the Wolfsburg job on a permanent basis, but there is no doubt he is getting a response from the players.
Back-to-back wins have moved them away from trouble and they look well placed to build on that against Freiburg, whose most recent away defeat, their fourth of the season, came at second-bottom Heidenheim.
Betting Tip: Wolfsburg to Win - 6/4 QuickBet
Augsburg v Werder
Werder Bremen’s five-game unbeaten run that started in October feels a distant memory now, with just one point taken from their last four matches. The 4-0 home defeat to Stuttgart was particularly worrying and underlined current defensive issues.
That makes a goals angle appealing here. Five of their seven away games have gone over 2.5 goals, while more than half of Augsburg’s home matches have also seen that line beaten.
Betting Tip: Over 2.5 Goals - 31/40 Betway
Hamburger SV v Eintracht Frankfurt
Eintracht Frankfurt have been the Bundesliga’s big entertainers away from home this season, recording wins of 6-4 and 4-3, along with a heavy 6-0 defeat. All but one of their away matches have featured at least four goals.
Hamburg also engage in open games, with their last two fixtures each producing five goals. With both sides contributing to high-scoring contests, taking the overs on the Asian goal line looks a sensible play.
Betting Tip: Over 2.75 Asian Goals - 5/6 BetMGM
Koln v Union Berlin
Koln and Union Berlin are both roughly where they should be in the table at this stage based on their xG numbers.
This matchup sees one of the stronger home attacks in the league, Koln, facing one of the weakest away attacks. With the two defences rated at a similar level, the balance of threat lies with the hosts, making Koln the more appealing side to support here.
Betting Tip: Koln to Win - 7/5 Coral
RB Leipzig v Leverkusen
RB Leipzig’s perfect home league record faces its toughest challenge just before the winter break, with Bayer Leverkusen visiting the Red Bull Arena.
The hosts are not without issues, particularly shown by their away results against top sides, so backing them to win feels risky. That said, it is also hard to see Kasper Hjulmand’s side, who struggle in big games themselves, handing Leipzig a defeat.
The double chance appeals, and combining it with over 2.5 goals gives a fair even money option.
Betting Tip: RB Leipzig Double Chance & Over 2.5 Goals - Evens QuickBet
Mainz v FC St Pauli
Bottom club Mainz have managed just 13 goals from 14 league matches so far this season, failing to score in four of their seven home fixtures.
St Pauli have also scored only 13, but their away defensive record compares more favourably. They have conceded just two goals across three away games against bottom-half opposition.
With both sides struggling in front of goal and little to separate them, the signs point towards a low-scoring contest.
Betting Tip: Under 2.5 Goals - 7/10 Betway
Heidenheim v Bayern
Four of Bayern’s five away wins this season have come by a margin of three goals or more, and Heidenheim look just as likely to be on the receiving end.
Hoffenheim, Stuttgart and Eintracht Frankfurt have all been comfortably beaten by Bayern on their own ground, and with that in mind, backing Heidenheim to suffer a similar fate looks the right approach here.
Betting Tip: Bayern Munich -2.5 Handicap - Evens 10bet
