The Bundesliga resumes after the winter break with a fixture between seventh and second at Deutsche Bank Park.

Eintracht Frankfurt have collected 10 points from their last four home matches, showing a clear improvement in results on their own ground.

However, their record against top-half sides at home is less convincing, having lost both such games this season while conceding seven goals.

Dortmund travel well and only Bayern Munich have picked up more away points, which gives the visitors a solid chance of taking all three points.

Heidenheim v Köln

Heidenheim entered the winter break off the back of a heavy defeat by Bayern, so the pause will have come at a good time. A home game against Köln represents a far more manageable return to action.

Köln arrive in poor form, having taken just two points from their last six matches, a run that has dropped them to 11th and left them looking over their shoulder.

Heidenheim’s home games against sides placed ninth or lower have all gone over 2.5 goals, which looks the best angle again here.

Werder Bremen v Hoffenheim

Hoffenheim sit second in the Bundesliga for away results, with their only road defeat coming at Dortmund.

They have won four of their other seven away matches and should be confident of adding to that record here.

Werder Bremen come into this off the back of a heavy 4-0 home defeat to Stuttgart, which highlighted their defensive issues.

St Pauli v RB Leipzig

St Pauli collected five valuable points from their final three matches before the break, lifting them off the bottom three and into a more stable position.

Freiburg v Hamburg

Eleven of Freiburg’s 15 Bundesliga games this season have produced at least three goals. They have scored in every home match, conceded in all but one, and their games against bottom six sides have averaged 4.2 goals.

Everything points towards another high-scoring contest here. Hamburg sit 13th and their defensive numbers away from home are poor, ranking 16th in the league. With over 2.5 goals priced as high as 4/5, that looks a generous line and one worth taking.

Union Berlin v Mainz

Urs Fischer has made a respectable start as Mainz head coach, guiding them to two league draws, including an unexpected result away at Bayern, while also taking four points from two Europa Conference League matches.

Despite that, Mainz remain bottom and need wins sooner rather than later. This trip looks awkward, as Union Berlin arrive in good form after beating RB Leipzig at home and Köln away. With both sides capable of cancelling each other out, the draw appeals at the available price.

Borussia Monchengladbach have managed just one home win all season, which makes them hard to support at odds on, even against Augsburg.
