The upcoming Champions League matchday, taking place on Tuesday, 4th and Wednesday, 5th November, will mark the halfway point of the league phase once it concludes.
Champions League tipster Ben Smith landed four of his five selections on the last matchday, missing out only because his final goalscorer pick didn’t start.
He’s back with another five-leg accumulator on Betway this week, featuring some of the best Champions League odds on offer.
The Arsenal machine keeps rolling, with seven straight wins to nil in all competitions. Even a rotated back four managed to keep a clean sheet against Brighton in the Carabao Cup, showing the depth Mikel Arteta can now rely on.
They’re yet to concede in the Champions League, having already come through a tricky trip to Bilbao along with home victories against Olympiacos and Atletico Madrid.
The Gunners’ run will end at some point, but this doesn’t look like the time. Slavia Prague have failed to score against both Inter and Atalanta in this competition, with the 0-0 in Bergamo sandwiched between two domestic goalless draws.
Another routine Arsenal triumph appears the most likely outcome.
European fixtures don’t come much bigger than Liverpool vs Real Madrid. There would have been some concern about the Reds’ form going into this one, but Saturday’s 2-0 win over Aston Villa has lifted the mood.
Alexis Mac Allister looked more like his usual self and the home fans rallied behind under-pressure manager Arne Slot, but the most encouraging sign was Mohamed Salah’s display. Perhaps boosted by his consolation goal at Brentford the previous week, the Egyptian found the net again at Anfield and looked far sharper than he has for most of the season. His movement, touch and confidence all seemed to return.
That performance could spark an upturn, and if he carries that level into this game, the odds on him to score or assist look generous. When Salah is on song, you’d rarely get a price like this, so on recent evidence, it’s worth backing him to make an impact.
PSG’s free-flowing attacking football fired them to Champions League glory last season, and they’ve shown a similar intent this term with wins of 4-0, 2-1 and 7-2 in their three European outings so far.
In the past 12 months, they’ve averaged 9.43 shots on target per home Champions League match, conceding just three on average, and have come out on top in the shots on target battle every time.
Bayern have also performed well on that statistic under Vincent Kompany, winning the shots on target count in six of their last eight away games in Europe. However, their numbers are less impressive, averaging 6.88 shots on target while allowing 3.38 per match.
Given the difference in attacking output, it’s surprising to see PSG priced as slight underdogs in this market.
After a rare game without a goal against Aston Villa, Erling Haaland and Manchester City bounced back in style against Bournemouth, with the Norwegian scoring twice in a 3-1 triumph.
Haaland has now scored 17 of City’s 31 goals in all competitions, with no other player contributing more than two. He also leads the way comfortably for shots on target per game, averaging over 2.5, more than double any of his teammates.
With City heavy favourites at home, backing Haaland feels close to automatic. Dortmund have conceded six goals across their two other away matches in this competition, and facing the most ruthless striker in world football at the Etihad is unlikely to improve that record.
Everything points towards another productive night for Haaland against his former club.
Barcelona are dealing with several injuries, including key attacking absentees Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski.
Stepping up in their absence has been Marcus Rashford, who has become a regular favourite in Catalonia. He’s started 10 of their last 11 matches and produced 12 goal involvements during that run. The England forward scored twice at Newcastle on matchday one, provided an assist at PSG on matchday two, and added another brace in the recent win over Olympiacos.
Club Brugge struggled badly when faced with top-level opposition two weeks ago, finding themselves 3-0 down inside 34 minutes in a 4-0 defeat to Bayern.
Barcelona will be looking to deliver similar punishment, and with Rashford in fine form, he seems well placed to play a central role once again and round off this Champions League accumulator.
