We have 12 midweek Championship fixtures, and Championship tipster Louie Truman has his Championship best bets and predictions along with Championship betting odds.
Hull City’s recent form has been mixed, with two wins, two losses and a draw in their last five games. They’ve shown they can score, due to putting three past Portsmouth and two against Norwich, but they have struggled defensively, conceding three to QPR and two to Derby.
Ipswich have been more consistent, picking up three wins and two draws in their last five matches. They’ve looked sharp going forward, scoring four goals in two of those games, and their back line has been reliable too, shutting out both Wrexham and West Brom.
Betting Tip: Both Teams To Score – 8/11 – Spreadex
Middlesbrough sit comfortably in second place, holding a three-point cushion over Stoke City in the chase for automatic promotion. They’ve managed eight wins, six draws and only two defeats. Despite this, they’ve recently lost manager Rob Edwards to Wolverhampton Wanderers. Adi Viveash has recently stepped in as the interim manager. He guided the team to a 2–1 win at home against Birmingham City before the international break, but Boro only managed a point away to Oxford last Saturday, which is a disappointing result.
League leaders Coventry are currently seven points clear of Middlesbrough in second. The Sky Blues have scored 12 goals in their last five, and they’ve kept the most clean sheets in the league, which is seven. Frank Lampard’s side will be looking to secure all three points at the Riverside Stadium as they’ll be aiming to continue their strong momentum, and a win would expand their lead at the top.
Betting Tip: Coventry Win – 13/8 – PricedUp
Under new manager Philippe Clement, Norwich will look to change their playing style. While Liam Manning prioritised possession and a measured build-up, Clement is expected to introduce more direct football with control and efficiency to create a more dynamic approach. Oxford come into this fixture on the back of a solid draw against Middlesbrough; this result took the U’s one place above the relegation zone. Gary Rowett’s side will be looking to build momentum and aim to move further away from the relegation zone.
Betting Tip: Under 2.5 Goals – EVS – QuickBet
Stoke lost to Leicester 2-1 on Saturday at the King Power Stadium, which marked back-to-back defeats because the Potters also lost 1-0 at home to Coventry before the international break. This result ended Stoke’s three-game winning run. Charlton comes into this fixture on the back of two defeats, which include a narrow 1-0 loss away to Wrexham and a disappointing 5-1 home loss against Southampton. After promotion from League One last season, the Addicks have been one of the most consistent teams in the Championship, but have dropped off in their recent outings.
Betting Tip: Stoke Win – 17/20 – BetMGM
Swansea have claimed just four wins from sixteen league games, with their recent form highlighting growing issues. Heavy defeats, including a 3-0 loss at Bristol City and a 4-1 home defeat to Ipswich, showed their defensive vulnerabilities. Derby arrives in stronger form, having secured six wins and five draws from sixteen matches. Although they recently fell 3-2 to Watford, their overall run has been encouraging, highlighted by 2-1 wins against Blackburn and Hull City; they also managed a 1-0 win against QPR.
Betting Tip: Derby Win/Draw – 7/10 – Betway
Watford have improved under new manager Javi Gracia, who appears to have finally found his preferred lineup. The Hornets have secured eight points from their last four, including an impressive 3-2 away win at Pride Park, which ended their five-game win streak. The Lilywhites have defied expectations this season, sitting fourth in the table with seven wins, five draws and four losses. Both sides will be looking to secure three points as they look to keep their hopes of a play-off place alive.
Betting Tip: Draw – 5/2 – Spreadex
Southampton is now under the guidance of Tonda Eckert, who stepped in as interim manager following Will Still’s dismissal last month. Eckert has impressed at St Mary’s, securing three wins from his first three games in charge. This includes an impressive win at Charlton, where they put five past the Addicks. Despite having a slow start to the season, Leicester have also picked up some form in recent games. The foxes have managed seven points from their last three, which includes wins against Norwich and Stoke in their last two.
Betting Tip: Both Teams To Score – 4/6 – PricedUp
After winning only two of their opening 11 games, Valerien Ismael faced mounting pressure over his future as Blackburn’s head coach. Yet the Frenchman has earned respect after winning four of their last five. QPR head into a double-header of away fixtures on the back of an impressive 3–2 win over Hull. Twice coming from behind, QPR displayed real character to turn the game around, earning a well-deserved win.
Betting Tip: Blackburn Win – 6/5 – QuickBet
Millwall are currently one place out of the play-off places in 7th, but the Lions are on joint points with Hull City, who are in the play-offs. Despite Millwall spending the past two months managing several injury setbacks, manager Alex Neil has confirmed that three key players have now returned to training, which is a positive boost for Wednesday’s fixture. Sheffield Wednesday have had a poor start to the season. Wednesday has spent much of the campaign battling off-field turmoil, sliding into administration and receiving a 12-point deduction that’s left them on –4 points.
Betting Tip: Millwall Win – 13/20 – BetMGM
Sheffield United approach this week’s home clash with renewed confidence after their emphatic 3-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough. The Blades well and truly silenced the Owls on Sunday, putting three past them, and in reality, it could easily have been five or six. Portsmouth are just three places above the relegation zone in 19th. They come into this fixture on the back of an impressive 3-1 home win against Millwall. Tyrese Campbell scored two in the Steel City Derby last Sunday, and I can see him adding to his goal-scoring tally in tomorrow’s fixture under the lights.
Betting Tip: Tyrese Campbell To Score – 15/8 – Betway
Wrexham’s recent form has helped steady their season, with four consecutive league games without defeat. Their goalless draw at Ipswich added another clean sheet, while the tight win over Charlton and the 3-2 triumph over Coventry demonstrated their ability to build momentum on home turf.Bristol City remain one of the league’s most unpredictable sides, capable of explosive attacking spells but equally prone to sudden dips. Their 3-0 win over Swansea highlighted their peak performance, while the 5-1 loss at Stoke exposed their ongoing inconsistency away from home.
Betting Tip: Both Teams To Score – 8/11 – Spreadex
West Brom will feel they have a decent chance at home after a solid win over Oxford United. They’ve proved they can score, but their defence remains shaky, as shown in the loss to Coventry. Birmingham arrive in strong form after scoring four past both Norwich and Millwall, the Blues will aim to take advantage of West Brom’s defensive issues, though their away performances haven’t been great.
Betting Tip: Birmingham Win/Draw – 40/85 - PricedUp
